The time finally came. Our smoke and carbon monoxide detector (also a Kidde brand) from 2010 finally died and we needed a replacement and the unholy chirp constantly reminded us. After reading various reviews from various online sources, we settled on this newer Kidde smoke and carbon monoxide detector with a sealed 10 year battery.The detector itself was easy enough to install with the included bracket but my biggest gripe is that there is no bracket standard, not just between brands but within the same brand. So to install the new bracket I had to pluck the old wall anchors out and drill new holes for new anchors because the hole pattern was different. Very frustrating because a standard set of hole patterns would allow you to utilize the old anchor points, saving time. I bought 8 of these, 2 have failed within 3 months. Kidde has sent me replacements for free but I'm very skeptical that these will protect my family. If another one fails I'll be purchasing another brand. Very disappointing.

They were easy to install and now I have combo smoke detectors/carbon monoxide detectors. They also have 10 year batteries, so you don't have to replace them every year.

Easy install. Great product. There are many place to save money, but the protection of your loved ones is not one of those places. Buy quality smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and keep them up to date!

I feel at ease with the Kiddie brand to alert my family of any smoke and CO dangers. It is easy to install, but make sure you read the instructions before you turn it on. I read a comment that mentioned that if you turn the red button the wrong way, it is ruined. However, once you get it up, it looks nice. I upgraded from alarms that were cream in color.
