Gives us a piece of mind on either side of our house. We gotten three so far, one after a couple of months just starting beeping randomly and very loud at random times in the middle of the night, couldn’t figure out what was wrong with it, we tried everything but it just basically malfunctioned. No issues so far with the other ones.

Easy to install and worked great for a while 2 years and 2.5 mths. Then the end of life beeping began. We thought it was batteries so we put brand new ones in. Nope. It was the end of life beep. I paid $70 for a combo alarm that lasted just over 2 years. I will never purchase this brand again.

I replaced my existing old smoke detectors with these. Installing the wire harness and the bracket was super easy. The wires are color coded - Black (Power), White (Neutral) & Red (Interconnect). The alarm easily secures into the circular bracket. On the plus side, I liked the fact that the detector uses 2 AA Batteries for standby power instead of the typical 9V batteries found in typical smoke alarms. The only minor drawback, for me, is that battery compartment is located on the backside of the unit. This means that one will need to unscrew / remove the unit from its base in order to replace the batteries. Although, I suppose it's not really that big of a big deal. I mixed these dual sensor unit with the same brand standard smoke detector and found that the interconnectivity works.

Only allowed 30 days. Broke on day 32. 2 Fire trucks later-The fire department says it’s defective. Kidde wants to troubleshoot. This is a potentially life saving device. Our $50.00 could have just as well been put in the shredder. Awful product!UPDATE: The seller is replacing our unit. The customer service was well done. Changed rating from 1 ⭐️ to a possible 4 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

When we purchased our home it did no have any gas appliances so did not have any carbon monoxide detectors installed in the home. Fast forward to the next winter we upgraded our HVAC system to a gas furnace so wanted to ensure our home and family was protected from the dangers of potential gas leaks. When choosing an detector I wanted to make sure that it was hard wired in with our entire house as well as have a detector that had a smoke detector as well. After researching different brands I found that I liked the reviews on the Kidde Hardwired Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Detector the best as it also had the AA battery backup.Coming from public safety a backup is always preferred as living in more rural areas seconds and minutes count to get out and get to safety. After turning off the breaker and testing to make sure power was off to the detector circuit, Installation was a breeze with the provided instructions and only took a few minutes to install once the old detector was disconnected. I made sure that the battery was also good before connecting it to the power as well. Once the new Kidde Hardwired Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Detector's were all installed I made my way through the house and tested each one. If your detectors are all connected I love that when one is alerting, they all alert to warn the entire house of the danger. After using for a few months now I will definitely purchase Kidde detectors in the future if needed. The value of safety is priceless but the cost of the detectors is well worth the listing.Be sure to always change your detector batteries once a year!!

The house is a bit more than 8 years old and has a bunch of these detectors. They still function perfectly, but someone thought it good business and got the law changed to force replacement of these detectors by starting a never ending beep. The choice is to replace a still working unit with another one, or toss it and go without. The plug did not match, so I had to wire the new one into the wire nuts, seems like an unnecessary step too. The new alarm now works without beeping. Reminds me of the seat belts in 1974 cars that prevented you from starting the car, even to go down your private drive to the mailbox, easily cured with a bit of rewiring under the seat. I suspect many will go without a smoke detector because of this 8 year replacement "feature".

I was replacing two very old BRK hard wired units, and my HVAC company owner friend highly recommended these Kidde units. These are the combo CO/Smoke units that are hard wired, with a battery backup. The only minor issue is there are no wire nuts as part of the package, but I reused the existing wire nuts from the units being replaced, plus I had many on-hand. The units installed very easily and the backing plate had all fastener options (holes) to connect to the electrical box.Note if you do have older units in place that connect with the "3rd wire", all existing units needed to be removed prior to starting to replace them. If you leave any in place, all the units will sound off during the install, which is a bit disconcerting. Kidde support confirmed that all older units need to be removed prior to installing the first one. Overall I give these a 5/5.
