First impressions... needed a setup yes its a beginner instrument...the neck angle means there's only so much adjusting string heightSounds good will be great for recording which is what i bought it for (studio instruments are never top quality because real players bring their own but this is perfect to hang in the lobby it does have a solid top and holds tune.Ill update as i go but so far? 80%Taking off 20 for the neck angle... thats a bummer

For $150 I can't complain much, but the nut on this mandolin is so high that first- and second-fret notes are about 30 cents sharp. It evens out once you get up to about the 5th fret, but many common chords are just unplayable because of the intonation. The strings that shipped with it are also garbage. Half of them snapped getting them up to the right pitch. Other than that, the body feels sturdy, and the tuners are decent.

This just arrived and is even nicer than I had hoped. For this price you can't go wrong. A bit deeper bodied than most mandolins, and this gives it a fuller and louder sound. The bridge was already set properly, and the strings are staying in tune. The only adjustment I made was lowering the bridge. Looks and plays beautiful.

What a beautiful sound this thing has! I’m brand spanking new to the instrument and am thusly not tainted by the eyes and ears of a pro that’s been playing for my entire life and might tell you this is bad compared to more expensive pieces.From my perspective - she sounds great and is really easy to learn on. Holds tune for extended periods of playing, I practice about 10-15 minutes a day and find myself tuning it once or twice a week. If you’re starting out on the mandolin like me, this is an excellent, affordable option.

It's not made with the most expensive quality or techniques. The intonation is a bit out, and I believe it's due to the height of the nut slot on the G string rather than the bridge position - makes it play a little out of tune.I don't know that I'd spend money on a "set up" at a guitar shop for an instrument that costs as little as this, but it would probably be needed to make it perfect, or if I were to suddenly take Mandolin playing seriously. Since that's not my intention, this plays fine for what it is.What I'm saying is - it's still playable, and the problem it has could be solved by bringing it into a shop, and that's pretty standard for any guitar-like instrument.Visually, the color I chose looks awesome. I've seen worse designs on much more expensive mandolins. So, thanks to the price you honestly can't go wrong with this one - even if you end up never learning how to play and just have it hanging on a wall, at least it will look great!There are cheaper mandolins available but given the quality I see in this one, I wouldn't recommend buying anything less expensive. This is probably the cheapest Mandolin on the market that you would ever want to buy to maintain some semblance of playability.
