CO data is 0 when air is healthy.

How to test the CO detectors before use?

Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless, and non irritating toxic gas that is harmful to the human body. Before use our CO detector, we can take this detector to approach the smoke generated by unburned paper or cigarettes, the CO value will change, and the alarm will sound "di di di" when reaching the alarm value. Please do not test it by car exhaust and burning gas in open areas, as too low CO values will not trigger sensor operation.

This fit well in my Cessna and is easy to read in sunlight. It goes into a sleep mode but continues monitoring for CO until you hit a button or turn it off. The altimeter isn’t accurate, off by 500’ - 1,000’ but it is more for hiking then flying I guess.

My first impressions: I like the display and all the information at this low price. Easy to read and interpret inside. I especially like the green light blinking frequently enough to see that it's operating (I hate having to wait several seconds on other detectors before I can tell it's operating). The altitude reading fluctuates a lot, even stationary. I suspect it's based on barometric pressure. May be more accurate/stable outside?A bit difficult to read in bright sunlight but the numbers can still be read at a certain angle. The battery lasts about a week and starts to chirp. It does not have a magnet to stick on metal.I haven't tried the memory card feature or the carbon monoxide alarm.

Temperature readings were inaccurate. Very inaccurate. Elevation we're different by hundreds of feet in the same spot on different days. Who knows if the humidity and the baronic pressure and the co readings are correct. Very dangerous. Should be taken off the shelf. We'll have to see what the BBC says

I had been looking for one of these to use in my car for Camping, it has a string to hang it by and an easy read out! I chose the bright orange so I could find it easier and my camping stuff.

My review is perhaps premature since I just received this today. But the device has a bit of heft in hand, which tells me it's filled with content. I missed the fact that the detector comes with a 128 MB SD card. Instructions are dinky in font size, but still legible and clear. Read them tho'! While jury is out wrt quality and accuracy it offers a lot of functionality for the price. This was the only CO detector to offer a history of activity via the SD card. I'd give it a try if you are in the market for such a device.Update: I’m still impressed with this CO detector. It is important to thoroughly read through the instructions. One thing to understand if you plan to read the data stored on the SD card. It was this feature and capability that drove me to purchase this CO device. Also, read the separate leaflet about proper testing of the unit. The unit only writes to the SD card at 5 minute intervals, which is more than ample to provide a meaningful history over time. But when you test the unit for CO, the data may or may not be registered on the SD card. It depends if the unit was sampling at one of the 5 minute collection points. The display is reading real time, but it may not be captured on the SD card if the CO is just a short burst of some sort. But obviously if there is a CO concentration that persists for a period of time greater than 5 minutes, it will be captured and stored on the SD card. The SD card must be popped out to be read separately by a PC. The USB-C port on the side is only for charging the battery. CO and the other four metrics are stored on the SD card as separate daily files using the csv (comma separated variable) format. If you want to further process the data on your PC, you can ‘Save As’ an xlsx (Excel) extension file. This capability can prove very handy for those wanting to diagnose CO problems. Also, you can put in a larger SD card if needed. However, 128 MB should be plenty for most.To reset/adjust the date and time, while the unit is still On, remove and replace the SD card. This activates the date/time setting mode. Short pressing the Pwr button selects the year, date and time. The A & B buttons are respectively the ‘up’ and ‘down’ adjusters. The unit can be left plugged into the charger if you want to keep tabs on CO, say in your house or out building. The device should be left upright for best monitoring. There are ‘sniffer’ holes on the back and sides of the monitor that should be fully exposed.Great little instrument. I hope it can last for awhile.

Visited my son and was concerned because I could smell the marker chemical (mercaptan) in natural gas. The apartment service manager and tech arrived with a carbon DIOXIDE meter. They were unable to comprehend the toxicity of 500ppm carbon MONOXIDE our meter registered.Even showing them the OSHA chart and the differences between that one less oxygen atom just didn't get through to them.So I called the gas company and the emergency tech was there within 30 minutes. His meter registered 2000ppm! Yes, with the stove off.He stayed in the apartment until they replaced the stove: a 2008 GE model that should have been serviced with new gaskets, seals and regulator every five years. Emphasis on the Should.Lessons here: if you're getting headaches , nausea or are unusually fatigued and there doesn't seem to be a corresponding illness and there is a gas stove; that may well be your culprit. And no, the carbon DIOXIDE detector you have won't pick up anything other than the products of incomplete combustion. You know, from a fire.Be safe out there. Don't let someone else's pennypinching kill you.
