Finally have a garlic press that doesn't feel like it will snap when I use it. It presses garlic like a dream!

I’m not sure why this garlic press has so many good reviews. It is cheaply made and badly designed. The black plastic pieces on the handles fall right out just from the force of gravity, meaning they get lost in the dishwasher, the drawer, or even the pot of food you are squeezing the garlic into if you aren’t careful 😳. And using it without the plastic parts is out of the question because the edges are sharp and it will hurt your hand to squeeze it without them there. This thing broke after just a few months of use. I tried to press one too many cloves of garlic at the same time and the handle completely bent at a right angle, rendering it completely useless. What this tells me is that the metal this garlic press is made of is weaker than a few cloves of garlic. Pathetic.Do yourself a favor and get a different garlic press.

I once had a similar press from OXO. Loved it. Not sure how it happened but the plastic nubs had gotten disfigured and it no longer worked well. I replaced it with the type that has 3 or 4 moving parts. That didn't come close to what I was use to. This press has no plastic parts to warp, is all metal, and works even better than my old OXO. Cleans up better, too.

I love cooking with garlic. I couldn't believe I didn't have one of these. This product is sturdy, yet easy to use. You put the peeled garlic clove in it and press for the minced to garlic come out. If you clean it right after use, or soak it in water, it comes clean easily. I really love this utensil.

Bought this as a replacement for old model Oxo press, that I used for 10+ years - and one of the plastic cleaner spikes broke off, so it became hard to clean. This one had metal spikes both on the push and on the clean side, so I thought it would be just perfect. Unfortunately, when I got it I was disappointed: the spikes were slightly, but noticeably misaligned with the holes, lots of rough spots in the finish and several fairly sharp, poorly finished edges. Almost sent it back immediately, but decided to give it a try - and it exceeded all expectations. No need to peel garlic. The spikes on the push side stick to the peel, so the peel gets lifted from the push bowl after squeezing, which makes peel removal a breeze. The spikes go just deep enough, so you can scrape the squeezed garlic off with the back of a knife easily. The spikes on the cleaning side work great: no-touch cleaning just by running hot water. I'll keep it and watch out for the sharp edges - may have to file them down, if they bite.

The platen that does the crushing does not fully fill the chamber where you put the garlic so the yield is not as effective as in designs where the crusher fully fills the garlic chamber.Sort of analogous to a piston head that is a bit too small for the cylinder. However the design is reasonably effective at clearing the holes the garlic through which the garlic is crushed so clean-up is easier. Not the worst, not the best.

This garlic press works exactly as intended and makes mincing garlic quick and easy. One of my favorite features is how simple it is to clean—the hinge swings all the way open, giving full access to both sides for rinsing. The built-in spikes on one side are a nice touch, helping to push out any leftover garlic bits and making cleanup even easier.
