This caliper spreader feels like decent quality but it doesn’t turn easily. I don’t know if bolt is mismatched with the thread but it doesn’t turn very easily and you have to repeatedly back it off (because it’s binding or cross threading) and attempt to turn again. Sometimes it works, sometimes you have to go through the whole backing off process again. This spreader is heavy and should get the job done although slowly. But I’ve had spreaders that were less than half the weight of this that never binded at all. Maybe I received an anomaly (that’s why I gave it 3 stars instead of 1) and it’s just the one I received but I wouldn’t even bother using this.

I used this to push the pistons back to swap pads on a 2015 SL400 mercedes. For cars where a c-clamp won't fit, this does the trick. Newer cars like mine have pads that life out the top of the calipers via pins that hold the pads. With these types of cars you don't remove the caliper, so you need a device to push the pads back. This works perfect for cars with these type of brakes.
