Great product, definitely DOESNT need to be installed upside down. Just twist the metal colored inner rod to the right orientation, then pop the clips up and make sure you’re entering the top ball joint in at almost 90 degrees so you might have to semi-close the hood while compressing it to get it to fully seat, then pop the clips and you’re done. Amazing value.

Excelente juego de soportes para el cofre (capó) de mi Infiniti Q50, los soportes originales de mi auto ya estaban vencidos y con los nuevos el cofre se levanta en automático sin ningún esfuerzo y se sienten mucho más robustos que los originales. Definitivamente los recomiendo. Solamente tuve que fijarme bien al instalarlos ya que el ángulo de los puntos de anclaje es diferente a los originales y se instalan al revés que los originales (lo de arriba para abajo).

These fit perfectly on my Infiniti q50. The OEM dampers were installed big end down because the pivots are 90° on the tube and about 105° on the shaft. The replacement part is inverted so tube went up, it makes no difference. Actually, my son's M56 is from factory tube up and shaft down.

Despite others saying these worked on their Q50, I want to assure you they did not work on my car. I bought one set, installed them with the hood wide open and realized after closing it that I could only open my hood about 14-16 inches high. I'd put some muscle into lifting my hood higher, but the hood itself and the connections on the car where the hydraulics attached began to flex and creak. Not wanting to damage my car or any components I stopped trying to open my hood fully and took them back off.I contacted Amazon to return them, but they offered to replace them instead, so I thought maybe I just got a bad set and I should try again. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. The second set was just as bad as the first one. So I returned both sets and purchased guaranteed OEM replacements at twice the price elsewhere. As we all know, you get what you pay for, and I should've heeded that advice.The first clue something was wrong was the lifts have to be installed upside down from their proper orientation. That's a problem. If something doesn't fit correctly, it should not be installed on the vehicle and I ignored that brilliant advice, too. Second clue was discovering that I could raise my hood 14" to 16" without fear of ruining something on my car.Unfortunately, these didn't work for me. Maybe they will for you, but I wouldn't recommend them if you are replacing them on a 2017 Q50. One star.
