This Ball Bearing is sealed on both sides.
Ball bearings are used to reduce friction between rotating parts.
The balls or rollers take the load and spin, distributing the weight evenly while the minimal contact area of the ball reduces friction.
This reduces wear on the tool and allows it to run smoothly.
Bearings experience constant wear when the tool is in operation from pressure, heat, vibration and friction.
Because of this, many Bearings need periodic maintenance or replacement.

The box they come in says Made in China. The bearing themselves and even in the photos on the advertising says Japan Tech. I am not saying the bearings are overly poor quality, but they are not the higher grade Japanese steel and quality of manufacturing. I purchased with the understanding that these were made in Japan and they are not.

It's described as fitting all 14" Jet bandsaws except one model (which wasn't the model I own). So, I bought a set and they don't fit my saw.

These fit the lower thrust bearing on my Jet jbs-14sfx band saw. It's nice to have some spares since the one currently on the saw is still good. These bearings look identical to the OEM and appear well machined. They are sealed with a rubber (I assume) gasket on each side. Price is unavailable at this time but I expect they will be reasonably priced.
