Needed more water hyacinth for our turtle/koi pond and boy was I disappointed when these arrived. They are the puniest I've ever seen. You can see in the photo the size of the ones we had already compared to the puny ones.

So with 44 reviews I read them all. I ordered these a while back but they arrived two days ago. They all look very healthy. Were wrapped carefully and were very moist and clean. So was the box they arrived in. Might have helped them... I don't know> They are currently basking in a fountain pond. If they aren't great I'll edit this review but I couldn't have asked for more.

I received the plants rapped in a paper towel that was probably wet once and placed in a plastic bag. Most of the plants are withered and full of duck weed. I had to rinse all the plants and pick off the duck weed before I put them in my pond or I would had had a mess once the duck weed spread over my pond. Hopefully I got it all out. It would be a problem if I didn’t because it would cover the water in no time. The hyacinths look horrible. I hope the come back.

Sickly, spotted, weak specimens. Our local pond store had a shortage so i thought i'd get some online to supplement. A few weeks later the ones from the store are a deep green color, getting larger, and look really healthy. The ones from here are still just as yellow and sickly as when they arrived, hardly any growth and some have already died. Also covered in little green flecks (seeds?) which i had to carefully wash off before putting in pond. If buying water hyacinths online sounds too good to be true ... it probably is.

Most of the plants were dead on arrival. The tracking showed they were in transit for 12 days., I had the throw most of them away on arrival - the leaves were black or dark brown. You can see in the picture the ones I saved. The picture was taken more than a week after arrival. I would trade all of the ones in the picture for 1 healthy plant. I plant Water Hyacinths in my pond every year and normally 12 plants will multiply and cover my 5000 gallon pond by the end of the summer. I had to buy new plants from a local greenhouse at 2 1/2 times the price but at least they were green and healthy.

This is my third year ordering from this seller and I am never disappointed. This year's order has the largest plants I've received. They arrived by USPS in excellent condition. The plants were much larger than anything I could have purchased from any of my local garden centers and at a better price.I plan to order every year from this seller. Customer care and going above expectations is what they do best!

We needed plants to help shade our koi pond to prevent algae. So we bought 6 and put them in once the water warmed up here in WV. The photo shows part of the pond and part of the results in July.To say water hyacinth can be prolific is an understatement. And they have their positive aspects (blocking sunlight that encourages algae growth, for example) and negatives. One negative is reducing oxygen for fish. Fortunately, we have a waterfall that takes care of that issue by oxygenating the water.Just take them out of the shipping container and place them in the water. Once they get going in a week or two, it seems like they double over night - for our daily feed of the koi and gold fish in our pond we had to dip out a bunch about every day beginning in July. It is no wonder water hyacinths are banned in some states and countries - they grow rapidly enough to clog waterways. One study in India indicated 10 water hyacinths will generate 6,55,360 plants within a period of about 8 months, that cover 1.2 acres. The fish seem to like to hide beneath them and for all we know, maybe eat on them. But they continue to grow. When we remove them from the pond, either daily or at the end of the season, we put them on our raised bed garden. Does that help the garden? Google says the plants make good compost for tomatoes. We have not noticed any aroma from the plants nor have they bloomed.
