This little guy puts out some really wonderful sound. I use it for an external speaker for my scanner

I always thought that using a cb with the back speaker sounded pretty bad. This little speaker is quite loud for it’s size and easy enough to install in the direction you want it to be. No more missed calls!

This fairly compact 8-ohm extension speaker seems to work well when driven by a device that is designed to handle an 8-ohm load. This is a concern because its listing suggests it is for use with (all) Uniden scanners and radios - but several of those scanners don't have an "EXT.SPKR" output that is compatible with an 8-ohm speaker. Instead, they may have only a headphone jack - designed for perhaps a 32-ohm load, which therefore cannot drive the 8-ohm speaker fully, resulting in lower volume from this external speaker than from the scanner's internal speaker - sort of defeating the purpose. Apparently, an amplified speaker is needed for such scanners, rather than using this passive speaker. Misleading!

First time in 30 years i was unhappy with a uniden product. Regardless of the volume on the unit being used the volume out of the speaker is to quiet to use. Base usit is louder then rhe speaker being used

Needed it to replace the broken speaker in my VHF radio.it’s small enough to fit in the boat and actually sounds better than the original in the radio.

This speaker like every Uniden product I have purchased in the last couple of years is crap. I would tell you that this speaker is quieter than the internal scanner speaker but is is not. Because the scanner internal speaker of my over $500 BCD436HP doesn’t even work now all of a sudden. The only way to make this speaker useful is to hold it up to your ear. And even then it isn’t loud enough. I will never purchase another Uniden product. The other two Uniden scanners I own stopped receiving.

I'm a licensed ham and using this in my Ford F-150 truck with my Yaesu FT-7900 radio. Because the main body of my radio, and its speaker, is under my passenger seat, and the detached head is on my dashboard, I needed a way to be able to extend the speaker of the radio, and this has worked out just fine. It is not amplified, meaning that there is just one wire connecting the speaker to the speaker jack on the radio, and no power cord. I wasn't sure if it would be loud enough but in my setup, it's definitely loud enough for me.I have the center console in my truck and this sits right in the small spot near the dash, a perfect fit.

The BC-7 speaker is a 3 inch by 3 inch speaker. It's smaller than the other Uniden speakers the BC15,BC20 and BC23A that are 4" X 4" speakers. It has good sound for a communications speaker and the 3x3 inch size is perfect for packing into the woods. It comes with a mounting bracket to attach it for mobile use.The BC-7 requires no additional power and works very well with any radio I've tried it on. Good clear crisp audio. The BC-7 speaker is nice and clear, I sometimes use it with my BCD-536HP scanner or a portable ham transceiver I take camping. I've used it with my Whistler TRX-2 and it works quite well with it too.Not much to say except it appears durable and robust, good clear sound, small for backpacking into the woods. I think it's a good buy.

When I first came across this communications speaker I interpreted the phrase "7-watt" to mean there was a 7-watt amplifier built in. I was curious, though, because I could not find a description of how the amplifier was powered. All that was made crystal clear when I received the unit. There is no amplifier. The unit I had intended to connect this speaker to, a QRP Ham Radio Transceiver, barely delivers 0.1 watt of audio. Despite this, the Uniden BC-7 Communications Speaker performed quite admirably, delivering stronger audio than I have ever received before, including the use of headphones. And the stereo miniature phone plug feature was exactly what my transceiver required for a proper connection.Bottom Line: I'm quite satisfied. This is a great little speaker for a great little price.
