The Thinvik 44/44mm Zero Stack headset made a significant difference when I installed it on our Giant Talon 1. The old headset was a color mismatch, so I opted for this. It was a quick, no-drama replacement using my headset press. The sealed/cartridge bearings are a huge upgrade over the OEM cage bearing in every way. This is a solid upgrade at the $15 price point.

Would have been nicer if it had directions.

Really wish it came with directions, I had to do a lot of googling, youtubing and referring back to this ad to figure it out. Did not realize for the longest time that the barrel assembly was not needed if the fork you were going to use utilized a star nut (star nut also included in this kit, but I just used the one that came with my fork and now have a back up).I did finally get this install on my fatbike ebike build though.Everything seems to be working well, but at the price of this headset on a bike that will not be used roughly/abused I do not have any concerns.

In this case you get what you pay for. It's a double enclosed regular caged ball bearing unsealed headset. It appears as a quality unit until the bearing case comes apart. When it comes apart it isn't broken it just reveals a cheap inferior product = open or unsealed inside . I will replace it eventually but the original owner of my bike had installed a completely unsealed headset in which this is a mild upgrade.

I didn't even know what a bike headset was going into this. I definitely didn't know how to put one together. I build minibikes usually, and they don't generally require these things. I had an ebike frame that had a place for forks, and literally nothing else. There were no bearings or anything included, just a frame. I also had forks. I found out that I needed these to put the two together.Installation isn't all that difficult, but you better not need instructions. There are a bunch of parts, and I had no clue what to do with them. I just kept looking back and forth between the exploded picture of the parts on amazon and the bike frame itself. I eventually figured it out. It's not all that difficult, if you know what you're doing, which I do now.The forks now move like they belong there, which I guess they do. If the forks could have come with this set, considering how well everything works together. Everything is super smooth with zero binding. It all looks and feels like it was professionally built, instead of farm built by this doofus.

I bought this to replace the worn-out headset in my old Fuji Sportif. I went with the 41/50 headset since my Fuji has a tapered fork. You get everything you need, plus a compression cap. I didn't expect that. This headset includes: Upper headset cap, shims, preload washer, upper bearing, lower bearing, two bearing races, star nut, compression cap and top cap.The bearings are sealed angular contact bearings. They are well greased and move smoothly. The top cap and spacer fit perfectly and I didn't need to adjust spacing on my frame. One thing to note, though, the lower headset is not sealed. You'll have to find a way to seal it or run it unsealed. For the money, you get a good headset with a bonus compression cap. You really can't go wrong.

Besides being able to ride a bike, I am a novice to the hobby. I can do the basics of maintenance but have slowly crept out into modification space. To my untrained eye this looks (and feels) like a good quality headset with solid reliable parts. I liked the black anodizing look of the aluminum parts. Hopefully it will be as effective at providing protection from the elements as presenting a cool finished product. Thanks to the assortment of parts and easy to follow instructions, I was able to get it installed. So, far this seems like quality parts but only time and experience will show if my novice impressions are correct.

I was confused at first because I thought I needed the expander plug section of this headset. My previous headset didn't have it, so I eventually realized I just needed to omit that part. Once I figured that out installation went pretty smoothly. The hardest part being getting the old part off the front fork and hammering out the old headset cups. I used a good amount of grease on all the new parts and everything was very smooth. My old headset wasn't working properly because the steering was way too loose. This one has the perfect resistance for my mountain bike, being able to safely go down narrow trails in the woods. Really nice upgrade for the price. Might buy a second as a spare.
