Item arrived super quick with Amazon's 1 day delivery service. Materials look to be fine quality metals. Slipped into the steerer tube easily. Had to get inventive to tighten up the assembly as my steerer tube lD is a the very bottom of the range. Expansion nuts had to be fully disengaged in order for the unit to slip right in. Once installed it has a rock solid hold, allowing me to remove all the slop in the front for assembly. Back to riding with the confidence of knowing my steering is secure and tight.Nothing bad to say so far.

Normally I order and use only FSA compressor expander plugs for carbon steerer tubes but the inner diameter of the steerer on a Trek carbon fork is too large for my favorite device. This particular fork expander bung is taller and is able to fit a carbon steerer that has a larger than normal inner diameter. Due to its ability to fit steerer tubes with a larger I.D. this may also work well on alloy steerer tubes, as the wall thickness for alloy steerer tubes is typically much thinner than carbon. Gone are the days of pounding start nuts with this "Bike Stem Headset Top Cap,Aluminum Alloy Bicycle Headset Top Cap Bike Fork Expander Bung"

It took a couple attempts to get it to work ,I eventually used pliers to stop the bottom piece from spinning. Next time I’ll just go to the bike shop and have them install a star nut.It cam quickly no problem there.

This is a great compression steer night. I replaced a FSA model that basically didn’t allow me to attach my bike computer using it stem bracket. This style of compression steering but allows you to set the bolt through another type of bracket. It’s a little bit hard to explain how these compression nuts work but there are different styles some better than others. This one is on the better side because it has a longer depth and it allows you to remove and replace the top cap much like the standard star nuts do for non-carbon steering tubes. The only downside that I can think of this is that this model probably weighs a little bit more than the more wimpy versions but I think you get more surface area for the stamp clamp onto with this style so I don’t think the weight gain is that big of a deal

The knurled portion of the expanded plug is 1.1inches long. The spring holding the 3 pieces of the knurled portion seems to be rust-free. However, the bolt that screws onto the top and bottom cone-wedges is not stainless steel. The inside of this bolt where the top-cap bolt screws into came rusted and took a bit of work to get the rust out. Not sure if this would be a problem going forward.

Works better then the stock one that came in my carbon fork. It's around 68 grams as it come but if you switch the headset bolt to an aluminum one and the top cap you can drop it down to 50g.

The part was advertised as 1 and a quarter of an inch but was only 1 and 1/8 inch, didn’t fit like expected.
