No guess work was required as the delivery person handed me the tool wrapped in clear plastic. It was fully intact and seemed not to have suffered the typical turbulent trauma of transit. The durable unit was ready to use with two snips and a quick spin of the factory applied, modestly protective sleeve. Lightweight and effective slush relocation device. *wife approved manageability*

This might be an okay shovel if you live in a city that only gets a few inches of snow a year. But we live in the mountains, where we can get 2ft in a few hours. The shovel head itself is extremely small, and it gets caught on EVERYTHING. Penny on the ground? Better bet your bottom dollar that this shovel will get stuck on it. Your better off walking into Home Depot and grabbing the first shovel you see.

I have used this model of shovel for over a decade. It is great for moving light and moderate snow. I live on Long Island, zone 7 climate, yet we do get some nasty snow storms (which I love!). I bought a pair at a local store years ago and have since had to replace them a few times. Now that may seem like a contradiction to my original claim about them being great, but it isn't. Let me explain. These shovels are excellent at pushing light (1-2 inches) and moderate (3-6 inches) amounts of snow. They are not very good as ice-breakers. I've cracked at least two of these shovels trying to break chunks of ice off of the driveway or in the road near the driveway. They do have a metal blade on the end, so I am always suckered into chipping away at the ice and after some success, I keep at it until *crack,* there it goes. Remarkably, the shovels still generally work after they crack, a testament to their design. They are just not as strong after that and you can feel it when moving larger amounts of snow.Sometimes the snow sticks to the shovel, so I have used an old wax candle and rubbed a thin coating of wax on it. That seems to help. One last thing. You can get these shovels for under fifteen at Menards online or maybe at a local store. The price here on Amazon by third party sellers is pretty high. I guess with the shipping though, the price is similar. I ordered three from Menards, so the shipping would be worthwhile. My kids are getting older. They can pitch in and help with the extra shovels now. Let it snow!Edit: It is made in the USA!

Purchased on Nov. 8 2017 writing review on Jan. 27 2019.This review is 100% based on my experience and my usage may differ from your intended usage.I snowblow my driveway and this shovel is used solely for the walkway and deck.I use it on the walkway because it scrapes all the way to the brick as the snowblower does not.The shovel has worked and performed with excellence. The handle length is perfect for my height (5'11") The metal strip on the blade of the shovel allows me to scrape the slush off my deck and sidewalk after I melt it with salt.Great shovel, has seemed to be sturdy and hold up well. Has been stored outside in the winter months and in the garage in the summer. The shovel head is about the perfect width for a walking path. Not sure I would use a shovel of this width to do a whole driveway. But for my intentions, this shovel has been perfect.Sidenote: I live in Michigan so it's been used a fair amount.

Should do the trick. This is a light weight shovel which I plan to use for leaves. The wide shovel should make it easier to pick up leaves. The handle is longer than I expected, but I won't need to bend over so much. Also it feels good on the hands. The steel wear strip is nice, too. It protects the bottom edge of the shovel from cracking or breaking.Update: Used it today to pick up leaves and it worked. Light weight and easy to use. My hands did not get sore nor tired. I'm a 73-year old grandma who likes garden/yard work. I shoveled leaves with the shovel and swept leaves into it. Both ways worked well. Easy to dump leaves into the trash container. Good purchase.Update: Used the shovel today to pick up small rocks and dirt. Still works well for picking up leaves. My hands did not get sore after using it.

I'M A WOMAN FROM THE NORTHEAST AND WOULD HAVE POO-POOED THE USE OF A PLASTIC SHOVEL IF I HADN'T MOVED TO COLORADO. (I'VE DONE A LOT OF SHOVELING!) FOR THE MOST PART WE DON'T HAVE THE FREEZING RAIN AND ICY SNOW THAT IS FOUND IN MASSACHUSETTS. THIS SHOVEL IS WELL CONSTRUCTED AND NOT CHEAP PLASTIC. I'VE USED IT FOR ABOUT 5 SNOWSTORM CLEANUPS NOW AND IT WORKS VERY WELL. IT DOES HAVE A METAL EDGE TO HELP OUT WHEN THINGS GET MESSY AND IT STILL LOOKS BRAND NEW! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!

I originally bought this shovel to use on our deck in the back as I have a Uline heavy, sharp shovel to use on our Minnesota driveway in the front of our house. However, carrying that 10 lb shovel from the front to the back is a pain. So I bought this shovel with a small job in mind. I LOVE this shovel! It is SOOO light! I didn't even break a sweat clearing the deck with this light shovel and the metal strip (which my heavy duty shovel does not have), is AWESOME! It cut up the solid snow so I could easily break it up to shovel. It scrapped the ice off the deck so the path is clear (I was having to put down salt to try and break up the ice)! Since I hadn't broke a sweat, I decided to try it out on the 4 inches of snow that had just landed in the driveway. Again, it exceeded my expectations. The shovel was so great, I had to stop using it because it wanted to get ALL of the snow off the driveway and I did not have time to get 3 months worth of packed snow off my driveway, so I resorted to the old shovel which just tackled the new snowfall. I am super duper happy with my purchase. I did not know one could be in love with a shovel, but I am.
