Part was compatible with my 2002 Jetta. Note the spring was compressed in the packaging. When I opened the bag it flew out and scared the 💩 out of me.

Not a direct fit for a 2008 vw gti mk5. I had to drill out the new piece a 1/4 inch . You can measure your old 1 with a drill bit mark it wit a piece of tape for the exact depth and drill it to fit.
