Having confidence in the Reese Towpower brand name, I have bought several of their products. This is our fourth purchase of the Reese Towpower 7-way to 4-way blade wiring adapter. Why? Because the first, second and third were so dependable over the years.We recently sold a trailer with a 4-pin blade connector to a couple with a pickup having a 7-pin connection. We threw in the adapter to get them home legally. However, some lights didn't work when connected. They were assured it was their truck and not the trailer wiring or the adapter. We later got a call that there truck was the cause. Suspicion confirmed.We have a boat trailer and a utility trailer that both have 4-pin flat connectors. Because the Reese Towpower adapters are inexpensive and durable, we leave one on each trailer for convenience. We keep a spare in the glove box should we need one when away from home. On occasion, it has been useful.This is a simple device that Reese Towpower has made durable, reliable, and affordable.

Purchased this to regain the use of a 4-way flat blade trailer pigtail as opposed to wiring a whole new line for the one-off situations where I tow something requiring a 4-way. I was a bit skeptical of the reliability of this but it feels sturdy and works! All lights respond as needed, and I went as far as hooking up a 4-way tester to ensure that all lines remain working. There is no flickering and no dimming on the trailer lights whatsoever. EVEN if this unit were to fail or get damaged, I think $10 beats the cost and hassle of wiring a dedicated 4-way.

This is a super simple, no-frills 7-way to 4-way trailer wiring adapter. Despite its simplicity, I've seen many of these that have a cheap appearance and shoddy feel. The Reese 74607 has a solid feel and is very rugged. The body of the adapter is of sturdy construction and it has survived several drops without cracking or chipping. It plugs in smoothly and has good retention in the socket. I'll be ordering one of these to keep in each of my vehicles.

As others have reported, when this adapter is inserted into my 2013 Honda Pilot, there is no "click" or any other indication that the adapter is firmly seated. However, it does make contact and all of the trailer lights work properly. The Pilot has a spring loaded cover over the 7-pin outlet. There is a protrusion (sort of like a ridge) on the inside of the outlet cover that fits right behind the Reese 4-way adapter which prevents the adapter from falling out.I would have awarded 5 star review if the adapter felt like it was better seated in the outlet. However, I'm not sure if this is the fault of the Reese adapter, or if it has more to do with the design of the 7-way outlet.

Like some other reviewers mentioned, if you have a never vehicle with a factory installed towing package, it is likely that you only have the 7-pin hookup on your vehicle. This adapter translates the appropriate pins from your 7 pins over to your 4 pins. [Important note: the 4-pin adapters don't have any methods of electronic braking, not that you'd likely be concerned with that capability if you're using this adapter, but just in case...] The adapter works great, fits great, and is fully compatible with my vehicles 'burned-out' light identification system. For those interested in vehicle compatibility, this works great on my 2012 Audi Q5 w/Factory towing prep.
