The wood boards for lacing are nice and smooth. There is enough space for lots of different patterns. Can be play free-style or as a game between two people. However it's played, the pieces are sturdy and it's entertaining. The concentration of two similarly skilled kids trying to finish a pattern as quickly as possible is deep. You can almost see the attention spans expanding. A hands-on activity that allows for a variety of ways to play= a winner.

I ordered this for a cross country flight with my 6 and 9 year old. It doesn't always end well when they compete with each other, so it was fun for them to play with this individually. I like that it all fits nicely in a small pouch. It can fit in a purse for easy entertainment at a restaurant, car ride, etc.

Brought this along for a trip with a few other families. The kids loved playing it.

This has been a fun activity for my kids to use in the car, at the doctor's office or at church. It keeps they quiet and engaged, and it is simple enough that even my toddler can figure it out. Although he does need some help with the more challenging cards. The set doesn't store well in the original box, so we store it in a mesh, zippered bag that fits well in my purse.

This is a great lacing game to use on the road when traveling and trying to entertain little ones.

This was added to many other car ride toys so I no longer had to hear the kiddos complain that the other is touching me and to take a break from electronics. Yes, only works if there is light, so a daytime hit for now.I am not doing this as a timed game as advertised. The kids are working independently with this.My 6 yr old grandaughter finds it challenging but doable so proud when she completes a pattern. The 4 yr old seems to get frustrated with it, but that could be personality and not age. This is a keeper!
