I used my coffee scale to verify that these 12 baseballs were 142-146 grams. (as opposed to the 105gm that was mentioned in the ad.) They alluded to how a difference in weight could cause the ball to behave differently. but we are talking about a maximm of 4 grams out of 140 grams, with the average variation being around 1% of the weight.... I guess if you are throwing 90 mph a small variation could make a difference. I once caught a High School Pitcher who threw at 85mph and it was scary how much a fastball at that velocity would break at the last second! And I remember at a Twins game I was about 10 feet from a catcher who was warming up a Pitcher, and he caught 3 pitches, and then put on his mask!It's a little cold right now here, -4 degrees F tonight. I don't think my grandson is going to want to use the hitting machine for a few days, or a few months, but the balls look great. they look like nicely stitched baseballs.I have no idea what the stuff in the ad talking about the yellow dimples, and I wasn't going to destroy a good baseball to figure out if they covered a dimpled ball with a seamed and stitched cover.I think that the description as "Ideal for Pitching Machines" is accurate. We have a Black Lighting Machine that throws at 45mph max and these should fill the bill for that machine.
