The one drawback I can see is the need to hold it down. My dear mother has hand issues that would make this a tricky device to use.So if you have problems grasping for extended periods, perhaps find one that locks down or find a way to keep pressure on it another way. A rubber band or spring clip or something.Otherwise this thing works very well for cutting glass tubing/straws.

I needed 8" gauge glass for my boiler sight glass. This tool was listed as a recommended item to purchase along with the 12" gauge glass that I bought. The cutting tool just walks around because it so loose. I could even come close to getting a straight cut. I was able to do much better with a stainless steel tubing cutter.

Works well and comes with a replacement cutting wheel. Much easier to install the new cutting wheel than my old one
