Well, I haven't gotten to try the converter and its redesigned filter ( that'll have to wait till next summer), but the "conversion" was easy (merely threading the adapter over existing threads). The new filter has a new design ( that says it lasts longer and can be effectively rinsed multiple times). The newvfilter costs less than the old version as well.

Kudos to Katadyn for supplying this kit instead of making people buy a whole new system. The BeFree filters are more compact and quite a bit cheaper than the original cylinder filters which is the biggest benefit of this.

My water bag is old and never worked well with the hiker style filter (leaked), the screw on piece was always janky. So… hopefully this will be better.

Doesn't work. Original Katadyn BaseCamp 6L water bag and fitting comes with a rubber sealing ring - this is designed differently and does not come with an o-ring of any kind. Took it out on a test trip and water leaks out from between the bag, and the adapter ring. Useless.
