Why does my rope have some oil smell
To improve the toughness and softness of jute rope, it needs to be soaked in oil for a while before weaving. We use pure natural soft seed vegetable oil, not chemical oil, so you won't get a pungent oil smell.
How do you get the smell out of a jute rope?
Mix a solution of white vinegar and water within equal parts and pour within a spray bottle, and spray the twine down with this formula.
Natural Jute Rope
All hemp rope will be treated with tung oil. If you need to remove the smell, you can wash the hemp rope with detergent for 1 to 2 times and dry it.

The rope is fine quality but I didn’t realize how much it stretched. I’ve tightened it about 4 times now and waiting for it to stop stretching.
