I installed these on triple 2x4s, not a 4x6 post. The 4" dimension was a bit snug, while the 6" dimension was a bit long. Not a problem for me, these are an affordable temporary solution. I drilled holes in the long sides and secured the caps with black-head exterior screws.

These caps for my 4x6 posts are just what I wanted. They look good, and I was able to install them myself Irvin problem.

The size of the caps IS 4x6 which means they fit on top of the posts not over them. They should be a bit bigger to fit over the posts. Sent back, quick refund.

These fence post caps did not fit my fence posts which were the standard 4 x 6 posts, shrunk as all are, by kiln drying. They were just a bit too small. To their credit, the company took them back without any problem. Not sure if their measurement was inside or outside the caps edges, but the bottom line was they just didn't fit my standard size posts.

Sorry over priced, these are plain black plastic that was ejection type mold that is nothing personal, black plastic. Yes, I knew it was but that said it is NOT worth $24.99 for 8. I did a stint in a plastic factory as a teenager, this did not cost that much to make to charge that for 8 pieces. Injection molds melt nurdles into the shape in the molds. On positive side, they were thick n fit the tops of our posts. All 40..ya, do the math at $24.99 for 8. I will definitely update after this Ohio winter. Just simply over priced in my opinion for square plastic caps. I 🙄
