It does keep the knife away from my fingers and you get uniform slices.It is a little hard for me to push into an Onion.

I purchased a set of 3 onion holders and gave one as a Christmas present to each of my friends with whom I share many meals. At our last meal together, they both complemented the onion holders as a terrific way to slice onions and other vegetables like mini cukes, zucchini, cabbage & more. I have used this tool many times & most recently for dicing cooked chicken, removing the center of spaghetti squash & slicing an entire row of garlic cloves. Give this little tool a try: it’s inexpensive, cleans nicely in the dishwasher & makes chopping veggies a breeze

I kept one for myself and will gift the other two. Great price for all three! I have used it for cutting meat and cutting veggies. I do enjoy that I can cut food evenly. That really helps with cooking food evenly and also esthetic presentation. Make sure to use a small thin knife. Anything more than the width of a parring knife gets in the way and slows down the process.I like the design. Easy hold and easy to clean! I throw ours in the dishwasher and it does well. So far, it’s durable.

I love this thing it works well is easy to clean. It take a few times before you get used to doing it this way but not a lot. Would recommend and buy again. I bought several for stocking stuffers and everyone loves them.
