I wanted this fountain filter to put in my spare 100 gallon Rubbermaid livestock water tank. I have 20 goldfish in it and it can get dirty and green in a little over a week. This unit keeps the water clear. I can see the bottom of the tank where in the past after 2 weeks or so because of the green algae I couldn't see down 12 inches or so.The setup was easy. You have a choice of 3 fountain patterns. Cleaning the filter is no problem. Unplug the unit, dump the water within the fountain off to the side as dirty water will pour out.As others have said, don't forget to take the screw out from the bottom side.I would buy this fountain filter again.

I purchased the CUF-6000 unit even though my pond holds only 600 gallons. I admit that I have too many minnows and I'm using air stones and the CUF-6000 to keep the minnows healthy.I also admit that if there's a way to get confused, I can often find it.I've had the 6000 for about two weeks. During the first week I eagerly watched my green pond water for improvement. It did improve. The filter was doing a good job collecting algae. But the improvement stopped after the first week and things started getting worse again. I cleaned the filter assembly and started to see improvement again. But there shouldn't have been so many bits of algae in the water.I began to wonder if the UV lamp was working. Cleaning everything out again, I opened the UV canister. This was also when I noticed the window in the filter box that would let you see if the lamp was working. It wasn't.Note that the instructions tell you how to open the UV canister, but they don't tell you how to remove the bulb. The bulb in the 6000 pulls straight out. I wasn't sure until I removed the shield around the socket. That's also how I inspected the switch and wiring under the base. The bulb looked okay, and there weren't any loose wires, so I wondered what else could go wrong. Below the bulb's base was a switch that would only allow the bulb to go on if the UV canister was properly closed.I decided to put two layers of PVC tape over the switch's small metal arm to reduce the clearance it senses. Mind you I very carefully made certain that the tape didn't touch anything else. It seems to me that this switch and wiring is likely not supposed to get wet. So you don't want to get tape on the base above the switch. Also note that if you get carried away fussing with this switch, the lamp might light up even when the UV canister is NOT properly closed. This could be a health risk, unless you make certain that it is properly closed before plugging in the power cord. On the other hand, if you break the switch, the UV lamp will never light up.My UV lamp works now. I am happy. I wasn't looking forward to contacting the company for a replacement. Especially since a new bulb would not have fixed my problem.I hope that the UV lamp will kill any algae bits that flow past it. Eventually it should kill all the suspended algae.Overall, I'm looking forward to being very happy with the CUF-6000. The filter really collects algae in the water, but the algae will flow around the filter if you don't clean it periodically. Now that the UV lamp is working, I'm looking forward to seeing what benefits it and the bio-balls will produce.I'm not quite as happy with the user's manual. Usually you can figure out what the manual is trying to say, but it caused me to experience some uncertainty.Take item 4 on page 02."4. Before all parts are installed completely, the equipment can not be plugged in."This statement caused me to open the unit to verify that "all parts" were indeed installed. They were.I've already mentioned that page 10 could tell you how to remove the UV bulb. The "TROUBLESHOOTING" table on page 11 could note that the UV-C lamp won't work if the sensor switch can't tell if the UV canister is properly closed. This isn't actually a user serviceable part, but it can be helped if you understand how it works.I subtracted a star for the less than clear manual and for having to "repair" a new product. Perhaps I'll rate it 5 stars if it performs as expected.

Larger box filter than I expected, (going to guess 7-8 wide x 10-12 inches) but turned out to be a good purchase. Cleared my pond quickly. Has 3 fountain nozzles for fountain spray. Would recommend.

We ordered this pump and when it arrived, we noticed one of the baskets of rocks was lighter than the other two. We also had issue with the uv lamp. Contacted the company. They were happy to help correct the issues. Offered to cover the costs of a replacement lamp. And also said The difference in weight is due to the difference in the two filter materials. Overall a good product and correspondence with company was quick and helpful.

When I first received this filter, I was put off by the size of it. I have a very small pond (40 gallons, 10 inches deep). When I set it up using the regular nozzle, it started spraying all the water out of the pond! But then I switched to the "mushroom head" nozzle, and it works great! It keeps the water super clean, and my fish are very happy! I've had it for two months, and so far it is working flawlessly. I've only cleaned it once so far, and that was just spraying it with the hose to clean the crud off of the outside filter pad. I was also pleasantly surprised at how long the cord is.

I have had a 400-gallon backyard pond for many years and have always had problems with our pumps, filters, UV light, and always had issues with algae. All three were separate and were more high-end products. Last winter, we forgot to take them out before the first freeze and it broke the UV light. The filter was still bad so we decided to replace our whole system. I saw this one and thought I might as well give it a try since it was a great price and Amazon has a great return policy. After one month I could tell that this was a great purchase. I have now had it for 3 months and I'm so glad I have it. The algae has been kept to a minimum, the filter doesn't clog nearly as much as my old one, and the fountain feature still works great!

Update, after 6 months:Possible replacement filter? This looks like it would fit:AQUANEAT Replacement Filter Pad Compatible with SUNSUN CUF-6011 All in One Pond Filter Sponge MediaThis still works great. We use it all the time, and have cleaned it 4 or 5 times (early on had to be more often), by hosing out the spongy filter and the rocks and plastic beads, and all of the black casing. This seems like a really good filter. As far as I can tell our UV light has never worked. I'm considering buying another bulb to see if that would help, but even without the UV light it works well. We have 5 small fish and several happy plants and volunteer aquatic snails in about a 100 gallon pond (probably 80-120 gallons depending on evaporation). We do get algae, but it only got out of control once.I highly recommend using water testing kits like the ones from Pond Master, to track ammonia, nitrates, phosphate, etc. to help figure out what's causing your issues. A filter alone won't solve all of your issues.Original review:We put this into our small pond just 4 days ago and it's already made such a difference. My kiddo had been overfeeding the fish in our natural (no filter, just plants and fish + a pump) pond, but now we can see the bottom again! We may not use it all the time...or maybe we will. It's nice that it's all in one unit - filtration and aerating the water. At first it seemed huge (relative to the size of our pond), but it's well worth it. Nice that it has multiple fountain heads to change how the water flows out.
