About this item

  • GT8HW-IH transducer is ideal for bass boats that want to install the transducer inside a fiberglass hull and not on the transom where cavitation could cause issues.
  • It requires a flat section (less than 6°) in the hull to be mounted and is excellent for boats traveling at high speeds that want to maintain accurate depth readings.
  • The 8-pin transducer features high-wide CHIRP traditional sonar (145-230 kHz) and has a power rating of 250 W.

It can be used in conjunction with a GT30-TM transducer and an adapter cable so you can maintain depth at high speeds and scanning capabilities at trolling speeds. For installation, follow the included instructions carefully to avoid damaging your boat.

This traditional transducer works great with the step transom on my Ranger bass boat. I had to mount the down view/side view transducer on the outside of the transom in an area that would not work well when on plane. This required a separate "in hull" or "thru hull" transducer for best performance on plane. It works great with my EchoMap Ultra 106SV, and would with other chartplotters too. Be sure to check the Garmin transducer compatability chart (see the Garmin website) to ensure it will work with your Garmin plotter. Caution: If you use a traditional in hull or thru hull transducer, and plan to place a down/side imaging transduce on your transom, you must select the down/side imaging transducer that does not have a traditional sonar signal (e.g., Garmin GT36). Reason: if you transom mount a transducer that has all three sonar signals (traditional, side, down - e.g. the Garmin GT56) there will be interference between the traditional sonar signals.

It should state in the listing that it doesnt even come with any epoxy that is required to install it. The lowrance units come with the epoxy so Im not sure why $2 worth of epoxy wouldn't be included at the price these are being sold for! Way to go Garmin, cheap out on your customers and waste their time. Now I have to pay another $20 to have some shipped to me and wait before I can install it, then wait some more for that to cure. Thanks for the heads up at least! But hey...at least they send you the foam mold that the epoxy would be put into..... so stupid!

Good product but didn’t fit my boat. The product finder led to the wrong size for my boat model.

I bought this transducer for my 546s Garmin GPS/Sonar Unit. It does not sense water temperature and is only a tool for gauging depth. The Garmin Rep verified compatibility of the unit and it is an 8-pin transducer, which needed a $15 adapter cable from 6-pin (GPS) to the 8-Pin (Transducer). Upon receipt of the unit, it came brand new in the box as advertised and the cable is long enough to not need an extension cord. Finally, the top of the unit is filled with silicone for water resistance (not apparent in picture) which made me feel more at ease in buying the unit. I intend to have it professionally installed and will update my post when that happens.

I used this transducer with my new Garmin 74CV. I had an Airmar for years. This unit is half the size and and hold bottom lock much better. I only loose bottom lock over 30MPH now. Clear pitcure. Could not be happier.

This is my second fishfinder transducer on the the boat currently. It reads at least as good as my through hull one by Airmar. So far I'm very pleased.
