Amazon.com

Designed for the serious woodworker, the Freud 99-513 Quadra-Cut - 2-3/4 Inch Dia. Ogee Profile Raised Panel 3/4-Inch Stock Router Bit - 1/2-Inch Shank features a non-stick Perma-Shield coating and Freud's patented Quadra-Cut design for a smoother finish that requires no rework. Quadra-Cut employs four cutting blades, rather than the industry standard of two, allowing you to create raised panels for doors and paneling and produce decorative tops, plaques, and molding. Because it's constructed with Freud's exclusive TiCo Hi-Density Carbide MicroGrain material, this durable router bit is designed to last.

Quadra-Cut Design for a Consistently Clean Finish
The exclusive Quadra-Cut design uses four cutters for a flawless finish. This innovative cutter design works by utilizing two of the cutters for an upward cutting action, while the other two cutters simultaneously cut downward. The result is an amazingly smooth finish that requires no rework.

Produce Smooth Paneling and Decorative Molding
Use the 99-513 Raised Panel Router Bit on any table-mounted portable router that accepts a 1/2-inch shank for creating professional-quality raised panels on doors and paneling, as well as decorative tops, plaques, and molding. The resulting panels will exhibit a glassy smoothness, even when you're tackling cross-grain applications.

The 99-513 features a 5/8-inch carbide height that easily accommodates stock measuring 3/4 inches.

Durable Design with Protective Coating to Resist Heat and Corrosion
Freud equips all of their router bits with their exclusive TiCo Hi-Density MicroGrain carbide for maximum durability and cutting life. In addition, Freud shields their bits from heat, rust, corrosion and wear by coating all of their Quadra-Cut Router Bits with their exclusive non-stick, red Perma-SHIELD coating.

The 99-513 Raised Panel Router Bit is 2-1/2 inches long with a 1/2-inch shank, an overall diameter of 2-3/4 inches, and a large radius of 7/16 inches. Freud cutting tools are backed by the Freud Limited Lifetime Cutting Tool Warranty to ensure customer satisfaction with every purchase.

I bought this to edge a couple of alder 24" square panels for a headboard. I took it slow and made three passes, raising the bit each time. Sometimes alder can be prone to tearout, and I had to do some climbing cuts in places, but by and large it cut very cleanly and I got the results I needed. Very pleased - recommended.

This bit cut a clean profile on 1" maple. Two passes was all it needed to cut a smooth ready to sand profile.

Compared to the original raised panel bit from Freud this bit works faster and smoother. Less repetitive passes, which is a time saver. A much more smoother cut. A great redesign. Can't help loving those Italians.

I was looking for a panel raising bit to make panels for a bed frame I was making. Unfortunately, my router table plate is just barely bigger than the more common 3 1/2" panel raisers (and not enough to feel safe), so I started looking for something slightly smaller when I came across a couple of bits made by Freud. I bought this one and Freud tongue and groove bit set at the same time and absolutely love them both. I was blown away by how easily the bits cut through red oak with no (and I mean absolutely zero) tear out or frayed edges to be sanded down. It made quick work of two large panels, cutting to the desired depth in just two passes. My router is a Bosch 1617VSI, 2 1/4 horse power, and for this bit I turned the speed dial down to 2.For the top caps of both the headboard and footboard I switched to a Skil 1/2" roman ogee bit to get a matching profile and was again extremely impressed by the Freud bits. The Skil make a huge mess of the cuts and had to be run multiple times, extending the depth just a fraction of an inch each cut to prevent horrible tear out and burning and still required a lot of sanding. After using this bit, I can say I'm a Freud Quadracut user for life and more than happy to pay the extra few bucks these bits cost. They really are worth it.
