The "SUCTION CUP" on the bottom is a hard plastic and completely useless. I did not seal at all on Formica. I just pushed the rear end against wall to solve that problem. It only handles 3-inch-long potatoes, I want 5 inches.

I bought this to use specifically for sweet potatoes. After attempting to struggle using it for my raw sweets, they sliced up great but the effort was endless. Then I read the instructions and SPECIFICALLY SAYS DO NOT USE FOR SWEET POTATOESBahh!! But, with a little light boiling, they cut through easier. And the product itself is durable for what I put it through to get some sweet tater fries.

Works well! I bought a 50 pound bag of potatoes from a local farmer, and I thought why not make my own french fries

It is very difficult to make French fries the cutter keeps jamming up.

We have used this lots since we got it. Its easy to clean. However, judging by the other reviews about jamming and breaking blades, how to use it may not not be obvious to some people. If you just try to force a potato through it, you're likely to break it.Here's why: The cutting blades are like razor blades - they're sharp, but razor blades don't last long if you bend them or apply twisting/torsion. Once you realise this, it's super simple to use properly; and the manual does hint to cut larger potatoes down to fit, but misses one key point; potatoes are irregular and like to "right themselves" under gravity or other forces pushing on them (which involves "turning" or applying a torsion). So, the fix to make this easier to use (and make it last) is really obvious; Just cut the potato in half, put the flat bit against the back plate and hold it as you bring the potato forward until it is just touching the blades - remove your hand and now when you apply the handle, the potato goes through the blades in a straight manner.

Easy to use and made great fries! Can’t wait to use it on veggies too.

Low quality, the product socks at cutting potatoes because it's made of such thin metal. Do not recommend.
