Let start off I don't right reviews. This guitar for the money is top notch. You get much more for your money then you would for an EP LP at this price point. If you make some upgrades like PUPS and quality machine heads you'll have a great guitar for a lot les then you would spend. The thing is finished excellent. And mine was setup great out of the box.

Maple fretboards are already soft compared to Indian Laurel, Rosewood, Jatoba and Ebony but when you roast maple you are making the maple even weaker, it is fine for a neck wood but not for a fingerboard wood.

Though Chinese manufacturers have come a very long way in the last 5 to 10 years and are making far better instruments than they had before that, there is still one area they haven't improved much in: quality control - and that's very much worth mentioning because it translates into more "lemons" every time a given run of a particular model is manufactured. The reason I stress this is because, at the $150-$200 and above price point, you don't have to settle for something that has any kind of issues that make the guitar unplayable or come with parts that are essentially malfunctioning or defective like microphonic pickups or a bridge that keeps breaking strings because it was so poorly machined that there are metal burrs on the saddles. If you get something that you're disappointed with over poor quality control, ask for another because there's a very good chance that most of the others were built or assembled more carefully, where the pickups were not microphonic, where measurements and placement were paid better attention to, where there's no overspray of paint or some kind of debris or a hair trapped under the clear coat or the nut was poorly cut, etc etc. Even the brands that have an overall good reputation like Firefly make and ship out some atrocious examples. But they also make some outstanding guitars for the price and therefore there's no acceptable reason for you to get stuck with a lemon. That said, I worried about what I was going to find when I ordered this guitar. Honestly, I'm a sucker for a good looking maple fretboard and that was my main motivator. There are not many YouTube reviews on this model and while the ones I found were generally positive, a couple definitely had less than good things to say and poor packing jobs had the point at the top of the headstock being broken off on more than a couple. So I knew I was taking my chances - - but I do believe I got very lucky! Most reviews of the Fojill FLP-90 are positive, and this one is no exception. One thing that struck me as soon as I removed it from the box is how high-end it looks and just beautiful it is. The flamed maple top, which I assume is probably a paper thin veneer, is almost bookmatched, the inlays are very well done without any noticeable border gaps, the frets are level, they are stainless steel and have the rounded ends and there was absolutely zero fret sprout on the sides of the neck. The highly lacquered maple fretboard is gorgeous and the lacquer seems uniform without any thick spots. I actually have not yet found a single finish flaw on this guitar, though I have no doubt some of these will have one here or there. This is why I say I got lucky. The neck is straight, the pickups are not microphonic- though, again, I have heard a couple reports of people receiving this model with microphonic pickups. The neck is fairly slim, at least compared to a lot of Les Paul type guitars, The binding is well done. There's honestly not a thing wrong with it, but I will note two things that I think could be improved upon. The tuners are okay. I'm not going to tell you that they do or don't keep the guitar in tune just yet because I put my own set of strings on them and those strings are still stretching out, so it remains to be seen. I can say that the tuners turn smoothly, have a lower gear ratio (expected on low end tuners) but don't feel loose or like they have a lot of play. The pickups are not microphonic but don't strike me as anything particularly unique or amazing in terms of sound quality. The bottom line is that, if you get an example as good as the one I was lucky enough to get, there's no way in the world you could complain about it at a price around 200 bucks. It seems as well made, as good a fit and finish, and as reliable as any Epiphone three times its price. It certainly looks better than an Epiphone three times its price 🤣So I say, if you're thinking about it, go ahead and do it. But hey, this is Amazon so if you get one that has an issue and it's something you can't live with, don't hesitate to send it back and ask them to send you another. With $200 Chinese guitars, it's very possible to get an extremely nice instrument, but at that price point, it can be the luck of the draw because they just don't do a good job of putting every one of them together and being diligent about checking them as they leave the factory or warehouse.

A quick up date on a previous review.I have had the guitar for a month now.In the mean time,I changed the tuners, the ones on it were o.k. but I had some Guyker ones that I put on which improved the tuning stability a bit.But the thing that made the most difference was grooving the nut a bit deeper. This had the effect of lowering the action across the length of the fingerboard. The action as it came was a bit high, too high to make playing comfortable. After trying to lower the bridge,I then got string buzz on a few fetted notes around the 12 fret.So I raised the bridge to a point where I got no buzz, but now the action was high again. The relief on the neck rod adjustment all the way lose.Seems the guitar actually needed a bit more relief built into it from the start. So I decided it was the nut grooves that needed to be lowered,as I had tried everything else.So I bought a set of cutting strings that deepen the string grooves on the nut.And very carefully deepened each of the grooves on the nut. That did the trick. Now the strings are nice and low to the fretboard all up and down the neck. Now if you have no knowledge or experience on the setup a guitar or grooving a nut, leave it to someone that's knows what they are doing...a professional guitar tech with a reputation of doing good work.If you aren't satisfied with how it plays, don't just trash the guitar.Cutting those nut grooves a tiny bit deeper really made all the difference on the playability of this guitar....made all the difference.Any decent Luither will charge between $50 and $100 to make a nut adjustment. Now the guitar plays as good as my Gibson and Fender does. Now some of these guitars might come perfectly set up.In fact the intonation on the bridge set up was nearly perfect on how mine came. But that nut adjustment was all the guitar needed to make it a nice good player.
