Tried using it to grind ceramic wall tile. The grit wiped off leaving a bare aluminum cup, with minimal effect on the tile.

This is an amazingly aggressive grinding cup that can chew through concrete like it is butter. After grinding some rough areas on a 16' by 40' pad, it does not seem to show any signs of wear. Now I am grinding down the wall as well which is just OSB but it has a lot of staples and some screws that have come through from the other side of the wall. The wall is 14' tall and 40' long so I have my work cut out for me but I don't think it will take more than an hour or two and I expect it will still have some life in it left, even after grinding on the hard screw steel. It is also with a quick pass smoothing the otherwise rough and weathered OSB which is sort of a strange thing to use it on and I doubt wood based products are ideal, wood being too soft really, but it is leaving a nice surface after the metal staples are ground down.

I tried to grind plastic with this cup, but it didin't cut well. It is for hard materals such as concrete.

I had a 10 x 16 foot of new cement to smooth out. This is one tuff little sucker!! I put it on my Makita grinder and went to work, it worked way better than I expected. I completed the area and it still is cutting great. You better be ready when you put it to work, I mean gloves and safety glasses at a minimum as it put out the dust and small debris continuisly. I tried different patterns and found that a 8 to 12 inch circular motion worked best and you can really can keep a good eye on that area.

I am a contractor and do a good amount of concrete grinding. This grinding cup is a nice balance of fast cutting while leaving a clean surface. I've got 6 or 7 hours on it now and it shows little sign of wear.

I have an old home with a number of trees near my sidewalk and had a few lifted sections. I had already replaced some of the highest slabs but didn't see the need for the smaller elevated areas and decided to grind them. I couldn't tell from earlier reviews whether this grinding cup would be suitable for this type of job. It is.For those of you who are looking for an inexpensive way to level your sidewalk, try using this cup. I used a continual flow of water over the work surface to keep the dust down and removed the guard from my grinder to improve access to the grinding surface. Use goggles. I found I could cut down about a 1/2 to 3/4 inch edge in only 10--20 minutes depending on the edge. As it is designed to be "heavy material removal cup", you'll need to work the cup back and forth to keep the surface smooth but with practice it leaves a nice transition between slabs. I was able to grind ~ 6 complete 1/2 to 3/4" edges and several partial edges and still had about 50% wear left on the cup. Having spent considerable time and money on previous sidewalk repairs, I was very happy to spend 40 dollars and a few hours using this grinding cup to solve my problem.

Recently I have had a job to replace floor tile on the concrete slab with new tile, about 500sf. First, I used rotary hammers with Bosch chisel for most of large pieces of tile & thin set, then removed all remaining small pieces of thin set with DeWalt grinding cup. I used Makita 4.5" grinder with DeWalt 5" surface grinding dust shroud. It was hooked with DeWalt vacuum. Everything worked very well. Grinding of thin set was very fast, easy and smooth surface without dust in the air during the job. It is a very good tool accessary.

This grinding cup works awesome for my application. I use it to smooth rough sufaces of all types of rock from soft to hard granite. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars: it vibrates a lot. In all honesty this is the first time I've bought this type of grinding wheel. I do love the results + saves time = $
