WOW! These are, without question, the stout-est gaiters I have ever seen. Period. End of story.I have several pairs of Outdoor Research "Croc" gaiters and love them for what they do and how they perform. However, every pair I have has "Shoo-Goo" tear repairs from errant crampon strikes. The upper section of the Croc's is only one layer thick. However, these USA made Dan's Hunting Gear gaiters are "snake proof" and double layered (at least!) throughout. They're simply on another plane of design, quality and craftsmanship.I'm pretty confident they would even survive my poor crampon accuracy and 100% sure no snake could ever bite through them. The only real short-fall/gripe I have is the lack of length at the boot level. My OR Croc's easily attach to my boot laces because they are large enough in diameter at the bottom and long enough to actually reach the bottom boot lace. These simply do not do very well in that regard (and I do have the XL size). If re-designed in that regard these would be peerless in the gaiter segment.Otherwise, I 100% percent recommend them to folks heading into snake country.Incidentally, I have no affiliation with Dan's Hunting Gear or anyone related to them and paid for these with my own funds.

They arrived on time. Look and feel high quality. One of them has a button and little hook at the bottom of the velcro part, but the other side did not. This seemed really weird to me. I've used a few times now and the one without the button wants to open over time walking. Seems like QC missed this one on mine, pretty disappointing, especially when trying to support a US manufacturer.

Liteweight and easy to put on. Makes me feel better with them on . We live in Alabama. Snakes here copperheads , rattlesnakes, cottonmouth- jeez. Already had encounters with 10 of these creatures. Thank God for snake gators

I have the chaps and they are good, well constructed gear but these gaiters are another story. The Velcro closure doesn’t stay closed, it’s a hassle to get them on and then after very little movement you look down and the Velcro is open. Not a good design, there are better options that are cheaper

I like that Dans snake leggings come in different sizes. This allows the leggings to fit properly and not slide down and bunch on you ankles when walking. The arch strap also helps keep the leggings down and not ride up which limits your protection against briars and thorns. I prefer legging to slip on leather boots for protection as lace up boot provide a better experience for long walks on various inclines.

I have property bordered by a large creek so plenty of copperheads, moccasins, and rattlesnakes to deal with when clearing brush. I like everything about these except the bottom straps have buckles which can be a pain and don't always fit depending on which boots I'm wearing. If these were velcro they would be a lot better. Still, I feel well protected with them on.
