Bought this on the premise that it states it is a "hidden hitch", hoping I wouldn't see it too bad when it was installed. Install was very easy, the included wires made it a cinch to get bolts in the frame. Took about 45 min. However, very disappointed with how low it sits. Seems like it's going to hit every curb or bump. Would return it but it's just a pain to take it all off again and redo it.

had to get a 4”riser (1 1/2” to 2”) adapter to use with my particular platform bike rack. now works great even on my fairly steep transition driveway

Put this hitch on a 2018 jetta S and was easy too install and perfect for the bike rack i installed. Ground clearance looks like it could be a issue but so far I haven't had any issue though. I followed a video in YouTube and between me and a friend we got it installed and bike hitch mounted in less than a hour

The instructions are spot on, the included bolt fish tools are pretty awesome. I got it installed within an hour. Installed and within 2 weeks I towed a fully loaded trailer from Southern California to Northern Oregon. It handled the trip perfectly. Only issue I would have is that the hitch has too much play and it makes quite a lot of noise with an unloaded trailer. With the trailer loaded, silence.

It is easier to install then it looks (or so I am told) but is still not "easy to install" and never will be. We have installed two of these hitches now, one on a Toyota and now on the Jetta. And there is just nothing easy about it. But it is a heck of a lot cheaper then the 4x the price that the dealer wants. We tried to take the car to an aftermarket installer, that obviously went sour. So, very reluctantly (after the headaches with the toyota) we decided to install this one. The car is newer, so the install was easier. Getting the bolts into the holes in the frame with the little wires is actually fairly easy, and if your car doesn't have a bunch of rust then getting the parts off to install the hitch is also not terrible. But getting that darn thing up there even with two people is a major pain that resulted in much yelling and a half case of or favorite brew at the end.If you can afford a dealer install, then skip this thing. If not, then you are stuck and make sure you have a vise carrot dangling for you when it is all done! The good news is that ours fit, and fit well, it had all the parts, they went together as described and resulted in a wonderfully lowered clearance to drag our seadoo around new england.

The hitch seems to be pretty nice. It does hang very low to the ground (to be expected given the stock height of the vehicle). I do have to enter my driveway at an angle now. I like the hitch itself but the measurements seemed to be a bit off when I was installing it. It did not want to light up with the holes on the sides of the car. After I finally got it in there, the middle support was not aligned with the plug in the trunk, it was roughly 7/8 inch off. Luckily, I was able to bend the thin metal of the spare tire compartment to fix the hitch. This led to it not being completely sealed. I added some silicone to plug the hole and then went over it with flex seal tape to keep any water or debris from getting in there.

Doing it alone without a lift is kind of a pain in the ass but it is doable in about two hours I guess depending on your mechanical skills. But the thing is awesome and it’s very strong very happy with the way it turned out. It doesn’t really add any good looks to the back of the car but I guess it is what it is. The hard part is hooking up the wiring , that’s a whole Nother four hour project without a lift. I ended up going through the A pillar and through the ceiling it was a big pain but it worked out nice.

Went on fairly easily in a couple hours - I'm no pro mechanic, but I'm familiar with doing the basics like a brake job or fluid changes. Somebody experienced could probably do it in less than an hour.Seems stable, but loses a star because any 1.25" accessory we use seems to be a bit loose in the receiver. Not hard to fix with an anti-rattle/tension pin, but that's another expense. Also it's pretty damn low when mounted on my '12 Jetta - I have to leave/enter parking lots at an angle or it hits the ground, and that is definitely not a nice feeling.

I unpacked it and read all of the instructions first. It took me a little over an hour to do the install, start to finish. I changed the order of the instructions a bit. I did not put any bolts in on the driver side prior to having the nut on the bolt in the tire well and one of the bolts on the exhaust hanger. This left things mostly secured in the right place while allow the hitch to move enough to get things aliened well. I put the three bolts in, one at a time, on the passenger side through the hitch. They went in well. I did have to push the passenger side of the hitch as far toward the front of the car as it would would go (after the bolts were all in place with nuts on them) before I snugged everything down. The other modification I made was to only cut a slit in the passenger side under cover. I attached a picture to show it. I like the idea of exposing as little as needed on the underside. I also drilled a couple holes in the under-guard to put a zip-tie through to help keep thing together.
