I was installing my 6th DEI remote start/alarm, but the first one with passlock II. It is not a simple ring around the ignition, which can be easily bypassed with a "key in a box" unit. This vehicle is a 1999 Chevy Suburban 5.7LAfter a ton of research, I did the "resistor" bypass - testing the ohms of the ignition to bypass passlock with a simple resistor of the same ohms. This worked intermittently, so I tried various ohm-resistors. I got the passlock bypassed, but the security light on the dash stayed on solid. This made me fear getting stranded with a locked-out ignition, so I tried this unit.Easy set up, simple wiring/directions, quickly learned vehicle-specific resistance and works flawlessly without a security light on. Excellent bypass for this application.

Used it on a 2002 Silverado (NBS, 5.3 LS).Yes, it works. Yes, it's a bit of a pain to wire. I used a wiring diagram that had my same remote start (the avital 1 button unit) and thought the bypass modules would use the same wiring because I figured they worked the same way. I was wrong! Some use data connections through the OBD2 port. This does NOT! It hooks directly up to the passlock wires that run to the ignition switch in the steering column. It also wasn't terribly clear that the ground wire has to be the PASSLOCK ground, NOT a standard chassis ground. So would I buy it again? It depends. Probably not. I think I would probably try to bypass passlock by going with the resistor method. Otherwise there are two permanent methods that are guaranteed to work: you can get the newrockies module which is far more expensive but completely disables passlock, instead of bypassing it (no security light even), or you can simply get your vehicle tuned and have them remove the passlock (or VATS) while they're at it. Tunes are nice anyway, so the passlock disabling is just a bonus. Of course that would require a little more time, so you'd have to plan to do that. I think I would go that route.

It gives an unknown code when installed (flashing light), probably because my TDM doesn't work. Tech support didn't know what the code meant. I thinks it's too expensive for what it does.

I purchased it for a 2007 GMC Canyon. Codes flashed as expected when installed, but the module did not work for this application. We still had sporadic issues with the passlock system just like before. If I unplugged the unit, the truck wouldn't start at all. We ended up removing this module and taking the vehicle to the dealer thinking the BCM was bad. They replaced the ignition key sensor and switch, which was exactly what this unit was supposed to take care of.

i Recently bought a truck that would not start because of a flashing security light, installed this bypass module, followed the instructions and the truck started right up, drove it home. I could not be happier with this product. saved me considerable time and effort.if you don't know which wires are hot when ignition is forward, constant power, etc.. you might want a wiring schematic for your vehicle or have it professionally installed. the instructions may be too vague for most that are not familiar with their vehicle.

The Crimestopper PASSLOCK=SL2 bypass module is a must when installing a remote start system in your vehicle.Very easy to install, the only thing you need to know is the wiring in the vehicle you are installing it in.Great product and price!!!!

Product is well made and comes with the necessary wiring. Of note is the statement to the effect that the device should be installed by a trained automotive person. The issue I had was that one of the wires needed to be connected to a pink wire in the steering column wiring harness. There isn't just ONE pink wire in those harnesses on a 99 camaro. I cut one and spliced it in and the car didn't start. I chose not to cut any more wires out of the harnesses and gave up. There are other effective alternatives for the novice. I think I could have eventually figured it out but chose not to mess with it.
