I know I know, not all projects require the same thing, I should have measured first etc... But I couldn't find the thickness of these in the description and they looked like they could work. What I needed was to turn some LP frames into doors for an IKEA Callax unit. A pretty common project for record lovers I think. Well these hinges wont work The plastic hinge itself is about 8mm thick not including the adhesive 9mm including the adhesive and backing plastic, which is about 2 or 3 mm too thick. The space between a steel record frame and the Callax shelf is about 7.5mm and it needs room for the adhesive and a bit of space to swing open since the frames are 19mm thick. Perfect color and length though. Back to the drawing board.

This piano hinge is quite strong for a plastic hinge. It is thick and has a metal rod. The 2 way tape is good, but make sure you clean the surface well and if you are not using it on a smooth surface, it is thick enough that you could drill holes for very small bolts or screws depending on what you are attaching it to. For the price it is very good.

Simple 12inch hinge to do your DIY project. It have a metal rod at it core, but the rest is plastic. The adhesive is strong, but I cleaned my part first and finished it with rubbing alcohol. The hinge have a little bit of resistance opening and closing, but it not much and wont hold much more weight than maybe a card board open by itself.

Continuous Piano Hinge 12" Acryl-Hinge PlasticI have a EzGo TXT Golf Cart that has a plastic motor access cover over the rear behind the seat that broke where the part hinges up to allow you to add water to the rear batteries.Without it, the battery terminals are exposed right behind the seat, which isn't safe, but the replacement cover was fifty bucks, so I just left the part that was broken off sit there loose, but that obviously wasn't ideal. When I saw this adhesive mount plastic hinge, I figured it could work to just repair the one I had for a fraction of the price of a new cover.I received the hinge and prepped the surface of the broken cover with some cleaner – degreaser and then wiped it down with alcohol, and then removed the tape from the adhesive backing and affixed the hinge in place. The hinge stuck down firmly on top of the cover between the two sections, and operates perfectly, so I fixed the problem in less than 5 minutes and for one-fifth the price of a new cover. To me, it actually looks better because the original cover simply bent at a crease and that is obviously what caused it to break over time, the same as will any piece of plastic if you work it back and forth enough times.Even though the adhesive is holding fine, I added three short, black screws to match on each side of the hinge, since the golf cart often gets wet when outside in the rain or when I wash it off and the screws are just some extra assurance that it'll stay put. The plastic also has a slight texture to it, so that could allow water to migrate in behind the tape adhesive, so I just wanted to be sure. Now that I know these types of hinges exist, I'm sure I'll find many other applications for them in the future.Nice quality and an affordable price.5- Stars!
