Thankfully we haven’t had an alert yet (knock on wood), but it’s securely connected to the outlet, and even swivels to avoid coming out. Very easy to install, and our inspector trusted it enough to pass it in our house inspection!

I got this for my mechanical room which has both a gas furnace and water heater. It is simple to set up and seems to be working fine. I haven't had a carbon monoxide indication, but that's expected. The test chirp is nice and loud, just like you want. There's no way to verify the 10 year life, so I'll assume that is fine. I like the AC power with battery backup aspect of the device. To me, that's the most important thing. If I lose power, which happens here almost yearly, I am confident that I still have protection in the area where I have gas burning.

First of all, I love that this includes the backup battery. It plugs easily into an outlet, so it is no problem to install. The alarm chirps super loudly, so it will be effective. Hopefully we won't have to find out if it is reliable, but it does bring peace of mind. The instructions were easy to read, and the setup was super easy. It has a little green light on it, but it isn't distracting or too bright in the dark. It isn't too expensive, and I appreciate the three-year warranty.

This carbon monoxide alarm is a valuable addition to any home. Setup is simple, with included batteries that are easy to install. The device plugs into an outlet as its primary power source. Thankfully, I haven't needed to rely on it yet, but the test runs produced a loud, attention-grabbing alarm, giving me confidence in its performance.

This monitor came with easy to read, yet thorough instructions, and I appreciated the suggestions of where to place it. As I have never owned a CO monitor before, it was important to me to understand how to correctly install it. I am happy that the backup battery has a 10 year life span, and that the expiration date is on the outside of the monitor. Testing yielded a loud alarm sound. I have placed this in our bedroom as no others live in our home. I am not sure why the directions say to have a trained technician install it, as it was super easy to do yourself. I highly recommend having one of these in your home.

I chose this unit because of its plug-in design and the modest appearance. A simple, inconspicuous green light indicating normal operation. 10 years of life expectancy of the (replaceable) backup battery. All is well.So what are my reasons for giving it 'only' four stars:The price of $33 at time of writeup seems high. You might be lucky enough to catch a coupon though.Although the instructions are well written, I'm a bit irked by the nonsense one is expected to read through. Dozens of cautions and warnings. As an example, at least three times it calls for a QUALIFIED TECHNICIAN. Totally contradicting the advertised 'simple installation - just plug it in and go'. Makes me wonder how many users do read it all, and wind up TESTING IT WEEKLY, as instructed. That would be 52*10=520 times one is expected to test the unit, during its 10-year life expectancy!

This was pretty easy to setup and had very detailed instructions. I like that it comes with a backup battery built in (that is also replaceable) which supposedly will last up to 10 years. The battery compartment cover will not go on the unit unless the battery is installed which is a nice safe guard.The plug is not polarized meaning you can put it in either the top or bottom outlet and not worry the device blocking the other outlet. The test feature lets out several quick beeps, its a similar volume as a smoke detector but a bit different in tone. The light on the unit will be green in normal operating conditions, its not very bright but if you are putting this in a bedroom it will be visible in the complete dark.
