  • OPEN TOE FOR DECORATIVE STITCHING: The open toe design allows space for dense decorative stitches to glide easily under the foot, for more consistent stitching
  • GENUINE BROTHER ACCESSORY: Specially designed and manufactured for optimal results with Brother sewing machines
  • HEAVY DUTY CONSTRUCTION: Engineered for precision and designed for use even with thicker fabric layers
  • FOR USE WITH LOW-SHANK SEWING MACHINES: Fits most brands of low-shank sewing machines. See your product manual for specifications

Brother's SA188 open toe walking foot provides secure fabric feeding for both utility and decorative stitches. The foot features movable feed dogs to enhance feeding from the upper fabric surface, and the horizontal opening allows for a wide range of left-to-right needle positions and added sole pressure. Use Brother's SA132 quilting foot guide inserted on either the left or right side of the foot for accurate stitch placement.

This is the have to have if you enjoy quilting or hemming or working with denim. Makes stitching smoothe for thick fabrics together. I made raggedy quilt. One side denim the other side flannel. The project was easy with the walking foot. This was an add on to the Brother machine I purchased from Amazon in the fall. The price of the walking foot does fluctuate. So watch and snag it at the cheapest you won’t be disappointed. Does the trick. Keep it nice it will last as long as you have the machine.

This made such a good difference. Kept my material moving well and no bunching. Wish I would have known about this years ago

I'm making my first quilt. The tutorial said to invest in this Walking Foot. This Walking Foot is the BEST INVESTMENT I ever made, except in some stocks. It's doing exactly what the Quilt Class said and more.By the way I installed it myself - I watched youtube like five times. It's so dog gone funny to watch it lob it's way on the fabric

I really don’t see all the hype about this foot, maybe I’m using it wrong? It’s just as easy to sew w a regular foot. I gave it a 4* because I have only used it about 4 times. Maybe I need to practice w it more, I don’t know.

I bought an off the shelf Brother LX3817 from Walmart for about 80 bucks. I bought it to use until I can get a Babylock. I went with this more expensive walking foot because I wanted a good quality Brother product that I could depend on. This fit the machine fine and works just fine. It does not come with the quilting bar that the cheaper ones do but it's worrisome when a cheap walking foot also comes with a quilting bar. Those may work fine. I'm just not willing to take a chance and cause aggravation. I want sewing to be enjoyable for me and this walking foot by Brother will make it more enjoyable.

Package was in perfect condition. Walking foot installed in seconds. Feels heavy and sturdy. Attaches solidly and worked perfectly 1st try on my old XR-9000 60 stitch model. Will update my review once I finish my project.

Ensure you have 100% confirmed the right walking foot for your exact Brother machine. I have an SE1900. This was easy to install and works well, it's just been a learning curve getting used to the noise. I don't quilt full sized quilts at home but I do do some of my heat pad table runners (so quilt top, bottom fabric, two layers of Insul-brite, and one layer of regular batting. This works well, it's not necessary to do quilting, but it does have it's place for sure.

Have been using this Brother Open Toe walking foot (for quilting) for 7 years now, ( same one). Absolutely love it. Works so well, I wish it came with a 1/4" guide so I could use it for piecing; my machine makes such beautiful, UNIFORM stitches using this foot. My brother machine came with a "regular" i.e. "closed toe" walking foot, which, although it works, simply does not have the visibility that the "open toe" feature provides. Honestly don't know why they even bother making the closed one:) *****edit to this review**** ~ BUYERS BEWARE of who you are purchasing this from! I've purchased this foot directly from Amazon 4 times ( I have 4 sewing machines) & have always received a genuine Brother SA188 in original Brother packaging. HOWEVER - I purchased this foot from SewVac USA one time (recently), lured by the "too good to be true" $29.99 price - and what I received was a junky generic "knock off" in a tiny cardboard box that said "FOR BROTHER" on the top, with a weird item#, (that when I looked it up on-line referenced a zillion different brand names that sold it for like $12.99), and IT WASN'T EVEN AN OPEN TOE FOOT!!! It was a CLOSED toe foot. Needless to say, I returned it. Shame on me, because thinking back on it, I recalled ordering Brother bobbins from SewVac USA like 8 years ago, & they came in a small, blank bubble pack envelope. I, ( good naturedly ) figured that they bought them in bulk to get a better price, & then doled them out in smaller quantities. Turns out I still have that envelope! It's sealed closed with a SewVac USA sticker, & the bobbins inside are GENERIC. Genuine brother bobbins have a different "hole pattern" & are embossed with a tiny "b" inside a circle. Seems SewVac USA has been pulling the "bait & switch" for a very long time:( Conclusion: definitely buy this foot ~ but not from SewVac USA!! Wait until it's in stock at Amazon:)

I am always happy when I am able to buy a genuine Brother product for my sewing machine. I can count on the quality being there.

I have another cheaper, generic walking foot that I bought and my needle kept hitting the foot. I bought this for my Elna 3230 and I love it! If you like to see exactly where you are stitching this open toe is excellent.
