The bearings on the crank side of the pedals are completely exposed. There should be at the very least a plastic shield/cover to keep some of the debris out. These pedals will not last more than a season or two. Buy only if it's for a bike you're getting rid of. Stay away otherwise because you can get better pedals for a dollar or two more.
