This camping meal did not disappoint. It’s a bit pricier than competitors which made me a little hesitant to give this brand a try but I’m sold, the quality is outstanding. The portion size was ample and the flavors were next level. Good sized chunks of shredded pork with soft beans in a delicious BBQ sauce, honestly, hard to believe it’s freeze-dried.

Just to set the scene, we had hiked all day clambering over boulders and by the time we set up camp we were exhausted. To the point where we didn’t have the energy to speak. I cooked up the BBQ Pork (basically, added boiling water) and it felt like the skies parted. The flavor was delicious, large chunks of beautiful BBQ pork and soft beans in a yummy sauce - it was pure comfort when we needed it most. We had an amazing trip and we’re still talking about that hard day and how we felt eating that BBQ pork. I’m sold on this new brand. 💗

I bought this meal for breakfast on a recent camping trip, and managed to make everyone in our group really envious. You know it's going to be good by the look and smell immediately when you open the pack. What's so special is that the meat and beans rehydrate perfectly. It's like a home-cooked version that's been braising for hours. Anyone who's tried many of these entrees knows it's hard to get beans to soften, but Bighorn has cracked the code. The flavors, texture, portion sizes and calories count make this an outstanding product. Can't wait to try their other recipes.

I followed the directions! 1 1/2 cups of H2O is too much water! I let the package sit for 12 minutes…….still the beans were hard as bullets. Yes, my water was at a hard boil. Flavor was just so-so. Never again.

I put in the recommended amount of hot water 1/14 cup. It softened the beans and the pork softened but it was so soupy it was hard to eat using the spoon I had. I had an extra spoon that had a deeper curve. It tasted fine. Smokey and filling. I added a little hot sauce to mine. I could see eating it if I need to but it wont' be a "go to" flavor. I kept waiting for the liquid to absorb or it to harden up like canned beans but it was more like pork & beans soup.

Oh my god. This was horrible. I don’t expect gourmet meals from freeze dried food, but this was terrible. The beans and meat didn’t rehydrate and the flavor was nasty. I couldn’t even eat it.

Easy to heat up, just add hot water. It's a little spicey but would be great over rice or more pasta. We'll be ordering more. Just got one to check out. Only thing I did not like were the meat pieces, they were tough, but no big deal they were small pieces. Get one and try it out. I'll be getting more flavors to try out. We live in Florida and a good deal of supplies and water is all ways good to keep on hand along with a box of snap lights and a case of sterno and sterno stove to heat water for freeze dried food. you'll be safe out there ya hear. Sure, it's a tasty dehydrated meal, and I was somewhat impressed with how tender and flavorful the pork was overall, but at this price you guys can keep it. If I want to spend this much money on a single dehydrated meal, I'll just buy something from the Peak Refuel line, and for a few dollars less get TWICE the calories! Look at the calorie count in these meals versus the price you are paying. All of these companies need to bring these prices down; these guys are out of their minds! My advice would be to invest in a good dehydrator and do it yourself!
