I was surprised by how well I like this white bean, chicken and green chile stew. Simply add 1.5 cups of boiling water, stir, seal and wait. It rehydrates really well and tastes good. I found it to be sufficiently flavorful and not salty. The packaging is easy to use, light weight, and stands on its own while hydrating. It is convenient and delicious. One package is intended to provide 2 servings. I think it is more than enough for one adult if eaten alone.

I'm excited about this package of Backpacker's Pantry White Bean, Chicken, and Green Chile Stew. I'm a camper, not a backpacker, so I usually don't rely on backpacking meals when I'm away because they can be cost-prohibitive compared to foods that are heavier and require more preparation. However, I do keep a "basic meals" pantry box of quick, shelf-stable things I can eat with minimal preparation if circumstances require it. This meal makes a nice addition to that "just in case" stockpile.I have not tried my single envelope yet, but I'm confident that, between Backpacker's Pantry's reputation in the camping arena and my love of all things bean, I'll enjoy this. I did, however, take note of the nutritional panel clearly printed on the label. At 270 calories per serving (or twice that if you are really hungry and alone), they aren't especially loaded with calories. They are, however, quite high in protein, at 23 g per serving, and fiber, which is just under 30% of the daily recommendation. These are both great, in my experience. The carb count is higher than ideal for a low-carb diet, although certainly fine for an average diet and probably helps supply or replenish some necessary energy.Backpacker's Pantry has a reputation for healthy, tasty, filling meals for active campers. This stew adds another option, and is sold at a comparable price to similar products.

I am a big fan of Green Chili Stew, however since I live in the Midwest it isn’t available in my area. I was excited to try this new offering from Backpackers Pantry but unfortunately it is not very good. Flavor was very bland and it was about 90% navy beans. It also didn’t rehydrate very well even after the full 15 minutes. My experience with dehydrated foods has mostly been with Mountain House which in my opinion is much better in every way.

This was so tasty and full of flavor. Super easy to make as you just add water to the bag and then stir after about 8-10minutes. Total cook time was about 20minutes but I was at ~10k ft. I will add that it did make me super gassy but it tasted like a home cooked meal and I felt full. 10/10 recommend, worth every penny.

I tried the Backpacker's Pantry White Bean, Chicken, and Green Chile Stew on my last backpacking trip, and it was awesome! The flavors are really tasty and comforting after a long day on the trail. The chicken is surprisingly tender for freeze-dried food, and the combination of white beans and green chile gives it a nice kick without being too spicy. It’s super easy to make—just add hot water, stir, and wait a few minutes. It’s filling and packed with protein, which is perfect for refueling after a hike. If you're looking for a hearty, flavorful meal that’s easy to prepare, this stew is a great choice!

I've noticed that when camping or backpacking, everything tastes better. Maybe this is because it can be so much harder to prepare meals. This makes a hot meal easy, and is one of the better brands out there for dehydrated meals. We found this flavor to be hearty if a bit plain. It could use some spicing up. Not bad though, but also it may not be enough to feed two hungry adults.

I feel like it is lacking in carbohydrates and thus is not as filling as it could be. Texture is a bit runny/soupy when using the recommended amount of water. I feel like some rice would really help with the overall cohesion of this dish and make it more satisfying. Sadly, will not be purchasing again.

This meal is easy to rehydrate and everything rehydrated well. It has a good flavor. I was happy it wasn’t spicy as I can’t tolerate spice. I liked that it had a good amount of protein. I feel like it’s pretty expensive, even if it’s a meal for two adults.
