They look like terra cotta but they are lightweight and made of a composite material. The best of both worlds.

I thought that this would be a good investment to hold water for the birds. It certainly is heavier than normal plastic and felt solid. My ceramic one finally died after 4 years and cracked. This was the replacement. Unfortunately, even with the plastic being robust, it cracked with the freezing temperatures after only a week. I'm going back to ceramic which can take the freeze and thaw during this time of year. Maybe if you live somewhere like Arizona or Hawai'i or Florida where the water won't freeze, it will be fine. Anywhere the temp dips below freezing, I would invest in ceramic.

I bought this for use as a bird bath. I bought the 14 inch one to fit into a 14 inch iron holder. It is the perfect depth for the birds to drink and wade. Just deep enough for a solar floating fountain to go in the center and keep the water flowing. I also put a stone in so the birds can see the bottom and perch. The best feature-Very easy to clean. Non porous material like real terracotta/other stone dishes so I don't have to worry about bacteria hiding in crevices or building up. It is well made and solid enough, does not flip or tip over. I have tried many bird baths over the years, standing/hanging/concrete/plastic/copper bowl and etc. This dish has so far been the best. worry free and easy to keep clean.

I got this to replace a plant saucer that I had been using for years but never could clean well due to it's construction. This is heavy enough to be stable when it's full of water. The birds took to it right away, and it's easy to clean. Just what I wanted.

So far we have ordered 4 of these 3 separate times to use outdoors for water for wildlife. They look & feel high quality - the material description clearly states it is a composite, but they have a nice mottled high quality natural looking finish & feel that LASTS. We bought one originally for rabbits. Despite there being a birdbath in our yard, the birds surprisingly flocked to this saucer, so we kept buying more. We have very hot dry summers and during that season we need to refill daily due to evaporation. THE LOW SAUCER IS SAFE FOR SMALL AND BABY BIRDS. One time we had 10 tiny baby quails all drinking around one at the same time. Sometimes birds actually wait in line to drink or bathe.

The products were great but UPS is knowingly delivering your packages to the wrong address either because he cannot drive, cannot back up a truck or is just lazy. Packages delivered by UPS to this address are knowingly being left in other people's yards. We have a local bear population who will tear up any packages left out in the open...or thrown into neighboring yards where it is necessary to trespass in order to retrieve them. If you are currently using UPS you might want to choose a different delivery service.

There is more to these saucers than meet the eye at first glance. I got two and they are heavy and substantial, nothing like the flimsy "terra notta" plastic ones you can buy. The ones I got are large and will need to support heavy pots, the weight of which have actually broken clay saucers in the past. They are also pretty and would fool the eye that they are not actual clay. The only reason I am taking off a star is the steep price; but, I suppose that you get what you pay for. I would order again.

Great Bird Bath. Perfect size and weight to put in my flower bed in my garden to provide much needed water to the birds, racoons, bees, butterflies and other wildlife. It looks like terracotta, which it isn't, but still has a good weight to it so it's won't blow away. I ordered a second one because I liked this one so much.

When I ordered this dish for my birdbath, I didn't read carefully enough, and I thought I was getting a ceramic dish to add to the ceramic pedestal I already own. When it arrived, I was at first disappointed as it is a heavy-duty plastic. In the long run it has proven to be just what I needed. It looks like ceramic and goes very well with the ceramic pedestal. Since my dogs have already broken 2 ceramic dishes, I think this will prove to be more of a challenge. It looks great and was just the right size.
