AQQA is a pretty solid brand, and this dual sponge filter is no exception. I grabbed it as a backup for power outages, and it works perfectly with my rechargeable air pumps—which, in Florida, is basically a necessity.Honestly, it would probably work great as an all-the-time filter, but I’m not ready to make that plunge just yet. I’m still firmly in my HOB (hang-on-back) or canister filter era, and sponge filters just feel like dating outside my type. That said, for what I need it for? It’s fantastic. Great filtration, good oxygenation, and super easy to set up. If you’re looking for a no-power-needed backup filter or just love sponge filters, this is a solid choice!

This is a nice simple filter. It has a lot of room for bio media to increase biofiltration. I like that it has a directional top came for the water/air to escape rather than just a straight tube as in other old-school sponge filters. This allows you to create more water movement in the tank.

This is a unique filter for my fish tank. Most filters pump water directly, but this one uses aqn air pump to move the water through. Ingenious trick! It sems to clean the water pretty well nonetheless.

I have this in a 10 gallon tank for my guppy babies and it JUST barely filters. maybe this in addition to another filter would be a better set up.

This product performs exceptionally well. I really appreciate its three-chamber design with ceramic balls, which create an excellent habitat for beneficial bacteria to thrive and efficiently break down waste in the tank—a feature that truly sets it apart from the rest. The air stone is another standout addition, effectively dissolving oxygen into the water to help fish breathe more comfortably. I've been using it in a 60-gallon tub with four medium Ranchu goldfish, and it's been working wonderfully. Highly recommended!

Runs smoothly, easy to set up, and provides my fishy friends with plenty of fresh oxygen. Requires an air pump that I for to barely is not provided. However it seems to be doing a great job, fits my 1 gallon tank well, and I have no issues. I mistakenly thought the pump was included, but that is to my own fault, as it clearly states in the listing that the air pump is NOT INCLUDED. Pretty quiet, depending on which pump you pair it with.

This is my 1st sponge filter. I wanted to add some extra filtration and redundancy to my main fish tank, just in case if I lose electrical power, and can only use battery powered air pumps. This sponge filter has several extra features:1) you don't need an airstone.2) It holds two sponges.3) You can add extra biological media to it.4) Has a direction outflow.5) It even comes with 2 kinds of biological media and 2 extra replacement sponges.6) It's super quiet. Overall, I'm quite pleased, with the setup and operation, so far. I haven't needed to clean it yet, so I'll update this review, if I run into any problems.

I hooked this up today and so far, so good. I was replacing a rather old and worn sponge filter, so this was a definite upgrade!I'm using it in my 75-gallon goldfish tank as the third filter. I have a giant canister and a water-polishing internal filter to take care of the majority of the filtering. This was just an addition to increase oxygen and create a third biological filter in the tank.It came well packed with three bags of media - two bags of balls and one of rings. After rinsing the sponges, plastic parts and media, I assembled it. The whole thing took me may ten minutes to assemble and place in the tank.I hooked it up to my air pump and it's happily paying a nice stream of bubbles.I would not depend on this to act as the sole means of filtration. It's not large enough to effectively filter the amount of water it's made for. Despite that, it's still a great secondary filter. This is my second AQQA product and I'm very pleased with it!
