We used this tool to cut our metal stair balusters and it worked great. It cut somewhat easily. We had to go around several times until it cut. Cuts were smooth and even.

Contrary to some other reviewers, I actually appreciate and value the ratcheting mechanism of this XForce Ratcheting Metal Tubing Cutter, Adjustable Pipe Cutter for Copper, Aluminum, Stainless Steel. In some areas where the pipe is close to a wall or a corner or to the ceiling of a basement, the ratcheting makes turning the cutter a lot easier even though you have to tighten the cutter manually.This is a great tool that I highly recommend.

I wanted to get this cutter to cut an unused eyesore pipe from the floor and only millimeters from the wall. This pipe cutter is solid but unfortunately it didn't work in my case as the blades are further inside near the handle. It would work if the pipe was further away from the wall.

Another reviewer sees no advantage to the ratcheting design. I see no disadvantage. I like the ratcheting design, which lets you cut the pipe without spinning the tool round and round the pipe 20 times. You can certainly use the tool either way.The blade is sharp, and there is an extra blade stored inside the handle. This tool has another innovation. A sharp, hooked knife blade slides out the end of the tool, presumably meant for smoothing the sharp edges from your newly cut pipe.It cuts up to 7/8" pipe, not 1-1/8".The handle is hefty and the tool feels solid. It is a great replacement and welcome improvement over my old pipe cutter. A nice tool.

A nice alternative to traditional style tube cutters. Ideal for tight spaces.I think the adjusting screw that advances the cutter blade could be executed a bit better; it is a bit awkward to tighten.The tool worked well on 1/2" copper.I do not know if the cutter wheel is a standard replacement or a tool specific item.

Time saver! I don't have to cut a lot of lines, but when I do, I'm usually in a pretty crappy mood about it. This helps a lot!
