I had to cut off some brake line to make a patch in a rather tight spot where regular tube cutters didn't stand a chance. These were able to save the day and get me back on track. Typical chinese plastic build quality but still perfectly functional. These seem like a great tool to keep in the shop

A lot of people are disappointed that it doesn't work with 1/2" plumbing pipe. 1/2" plumbing pipe is 5/8" OD the 1/2" refers to the ID. I have only tried it on 3/8" ID copper pipe and it works great. I bought it for cutting 5/16" brake lines. Only criticism is the large knob to adjust the cutting wheel is the limiting factor on how close you can get to nearby obstructions. A socket head screw would have been a much better design choice.

It cuts like a regular tubing cutter but with a ratcheting motion that can be useful in tight areas . It has a swing out blade to dress the I.D. and a file on one side . It takes about as long to complete a cut as a conventional mini cutter but will get the job done . The cutting blade is replaceable but disassembly is NOT easy or fun . If blade is in need of replacement , I suggest the supplier / manufacturer be contacted . Because inquiring minds wanted to know ( mine ) , I didn’t take my own advice and proceeded to disassemble it . Be forewarned , there are SMALL parts that are easily lost . If you decide to replace the blade , disassemble in a controlled environment where parts can be contained . In particular , there are two SMALL springs that are scary easily to lose . Once disassembled , the cutter blade removes with a screw as mini cutters do . Perhaps the blade size is common . It does resemble blades found on your better designed mini cutters that are replaceable . If you do take it upon yourself to replace the blade , at least have the controlled environment, good lighting and a magnifying glass with stand ( like a jeweler uses ) . As previously stated , there are small parts easily lost . If this warning doesn’t phase you , take heed regardless . Overall , I do like the cutter and will do well . I personally opted for this over the TITAN 3/16 brake line cutter since this cutter has a wide range of size tube it can cut . I will use it for mild steel brake line . I did test it and it cuts them . Of course , eventually the blade will wear . What can I say , have replacement blades at the ready and time / place to CAREFULLY replace the blade . I’m happy at this purchase . No , I did not loose any small parts .EDIT : you do NOT have to disassemble the tool in its entire to replace the cutting wheel . Just unthread the adjusting knob until the blade carrier drops out the opposite side . Then remove ONE screw to replace cutting wheel . Re - install blade carrier in reverse of removal . Easiest blade change ever . Great tool !
