I have some fairly large and heavy powered bookshelf speakers, so it is difficult to find speaker stands that can handle the size and weight of the speakers. On paper, these seemed like they would do the job, as they are rated for up to 25 pounds. However, they have some significant drawbacks, as I discovered. First, the good news. They are very heavy-duty and sturdy, and they handled the weight of my speakers with ease. The top shelf was somewhat small, and there was no easy way to secure the speakers, other than some non-slip stick-on pads. The real issue has to do with the bottom plate, which has some very sharp, pointed steel spikes on the bottom. That is great for securing the stands on carpet, but I have hardwood floors. They provided some hard plastic cups to place over the spikes, but they did not attach securely over the spikes. So, in order to place the stands on the wood, I had to carefully place the cups at each of the corners. Unfortunately, if you need to move the stands, the cups fall off, requiring a lot of work to replace them. In my opinion, this is a poor design, and it makes them pretty useless for my application. So, only three stars, in my opinion.

The stand is work but not stable even with the brackets they provided, you can accident nock down the speaker easy.

Even if these speaker stands might not win a beauty award, the main component we appreciate is the substantial strength and ability to support speakers that ARE heavy, just as described. All of the bolts and screws which hold it together are anchored into metal threaded inserts---NO plastic threads or inserts. Due to this feature, I can safely tighten the bolts and screws without fear of stripping-out MDF screw-holes. Once assembled, each stand actually DOES sit steady, with NO ROCKING. The built-in LED lights are a nice touch, even though they are not particularly bright. The one thing I would change, if I could, would be to increase the width and length of the top platform. Overall, these have been a nice addition!

Overall, I like these speaker stands. They have a solid build and hold the weight nicely. The led light is an added touch that is apealing.Cons: The screw that tightens gouges into the powder coating of the inner shaft which could have been avoided with a flat base on the screw. Also, the pads that are supposed to support the pointed feet are cumbersome to line up and become pointless as you adust the position of the base as they fall off of the feet they are supposed to support. The whole endeavor is tedious and frustrating. All in all, these are decent stands and do the job of holding the speakers, though they could have been made to be a bit taller.
