The tool is sturdy and made of good, solid material. I just have two small issues: 1) you have to apply some sort of hand pressure to get the spreader started in order to have the ratchet engage, and 2) the larger plates, while attached by magnets and lined up with dimples, are somewhat awkward to keep in place while engaging the ratchet. Once engaged, however, the tool works very well. It just might take some getting used to. No regrets buying it.

I have several cars and have done brakes on 2 of them so far. This tool made this part of the job easy. I am 71 years old and realize you have to have the right tools for the job. This is one of them.

Got tired of using C clamp so when I refinished the calipers on the vette I decided to pick up a caliper piston tool so I would not mess up the new finish on the calipers. Justified it because I lost count of all the brake jobs I've done on my personal and friends cars, trucks and motorcycles. I chose ABN because I have been happy w/ their products in the past. They did not disappoint. Quality construction. The add on Amazon does not do this product justice

If you’ve ever putzed around with a C-clamp to compress a multi-piston caliper, this will make your life easier and make the job more straightforward. I’ve used a clamp for decades. After I bought this on a whim, I’ll never use a clamp again. One word of advice - keep a finger on the ratchet shaft to give it the resistance to actually ratchet; several reviews here mentioned that it won’t function properly if there is no pressure on the “pads,” but that’s also how ratchets work - they need resistance to work.

I would normally use a c-clamp to do brakes but with dual pistons caliper I was not able to use it. So I have these a try and it works well. The only complaint I have is when opening and closing them you have to put tension on both sides in order to expand or contract it. But other than that it a good tool

The magnets that hold the larger attachments aren't strong enough and easily fall off. You have to apply a fair amount of pressure for the ratchet to engage. The body of the tool is plastic and seems cheap.I find myself fighting with the tool for about the same time it takes to successfully use it.

I'm an automotive technician, i bought this for convenience, unfortunately i shouldnt have cheaped out. The construction is very flimisy, the ratcheting mechanism is bad and will disengage on its own or completly flip makeing you ratchet in the wrong direction, one of the rivets on the rachet handle is already coming off. Overall not worth it just spend a little more and youll get a quality tool. Saw the reviews but decided to give it a try , since ive bought abn tools in the past that were very good. Dont knock there other tools but definitely dont buy this one

worked perfectly for 2014 Subaru Outback complete pad retraction...this car has dual pistons in the front and a single POT in the rear....tool worked perfectly for both setups. this car can also be difficult to achieve a complete retraction but this tool had the force necessary to achieve that....the ratcheting function was nice since I was not in a position to execute a full 360 spin...one more point, the retraction was easy to make square meaning this tool did not force the pistons back in at a skewed angle which isn't good; this tool may not be able to handle heavy duty daily shop use but is fine for the weekend mechanic's occasional use
