How to remove and change the OMC Cobra Stern Drive Water Pump
Removing
- Step 1 : Remove 3 bolts from Cobra Stern Drive cover assembly ,
- Step 2 : Remove water pump tube from case
- Step 3 : Remove water pump housing , impeller and wear plate , clean your water pump base .
Installing
- Step 1 : Place the liner into water pump housing ,
- Step 2 : Add grease to cup liner and impeller ,
- Step 3 : Place impeller wear plate and gasket on base
- Step 4 : Place Impeller on the pump shaft and put water pump housing with cup , do not forget to connect water tube .

dislike impeller and shell casing does not stay in place . this china part doesnt work on 5.0L V8OMC outdrive, 1989. do you know a better pump option.

Fitted and boat had overheating problems, after tearing down again found the cage had spun inside the housing restricting water flow and chewed up the impeller. Was fairly cheap and now I know why, spend a bit more money and get a good quality kit and less of the headaches!
