I ordered this lawn aerator to help prepare my lawn for spring. The winter weather has been tough on parts of my lawn and a mole infestation last summer resulted in large dirt mounds scattered all over. I'm having to reseed large parts of my front yard and will use this tool to aid in that process. Sturdy construction and easy to use. Five stars.

This was a bit of a pain to put together, since you need to attach each spike individually. Especially since you need to use both included wrench tools to tighten them. I wish it had come with the spikes preattached, preferably welded. It wouldn't have taken up more space in the box. The handle went together easily with just a few bolts. It's simple to use, and seems to work well, though it takes *forever* if you have a large yard. I appreciate the included tool to poke stuck soil plugs out.

Assembly was straightforward and pretty easy, about 15 minutes to put it all together. Once together the item seems sturdy. The quality of the handle is nice and padded. It works well and is easy to use.

This is a well made tool that should last for years, except for possibly the foam handles which might deteriorate over time. For this reason I usually prefer more like a rubber bicycle type handle grip but if the foam does deteriorate you can always replace it.Assembly is pretty straightforward, although you might want to use your own tools as the provided ones are pretty lightweight and more difficult to use. It comes with one extra spike and one extra bolt and nut for backup.The core removers are a bit smaller than most other similar tools, but there are more of them, so hopefully that should work out to give similar results. And the smaller cores may actually leave your lawn looking closer to normal after you've finished the job.The combination of coring tubes and spikes makes it possible to accomplish both goals at the same time without having to use two different tools so that can be an advantage.Just be aware that for smaller, lighter people this may be difficult to use as it requires enough pressure to dig deeply into the ground. So make sure your ground is either naturally soft or wet it down enough to make it easier to penetrate. This may not be suitable for very hard ground such as hard clay, etc.You should probably wear heavy boots to protect your feet while you are pushing this into the dirt.It comes with a pushing tool that you can use to clear out the coring tubes when you are finished.For larger lawns this will either be a big job or better suited to some kind of larger mechanical or power tool, but if you are young and energetic enough go for it.I hope this helps. Ordered this to aerate the lawn and see if I can get some spots to come back to life.Out of the box, the pieces seem to be good quality and heavy.All of the tools needed to put together were there, as well as one extra spike and screw for handle.Putting it together is where I started to have problems.There were zero instructions for assembly.As I was putting the handle together, I noticed that pieces of the black paint were chipping.I thought it was because I was using the incorrect tool combination.As I kept going, it didn't matter which tool combination I used, it chipped the paint on 3 of the 4 assembly locations.Putting in the spikes was no problem.All seated well with no issues.As I was getting ready to go outside, I was thinking that I needed to tether the cleaning spike to the handle in some manner so that it was handy.I picked it up to inspect, and the silver colored protector from the end promptly fell off.Using the aerator on the lawn is super easy, and the handle is nice and tall so that it doesn't bother my back.I can use my feet to press into the ground to the desired depth.Overall it really is a nice tool, but with the paint chipping and hand tool handle protector coming off immediately I am not sure about the overall quality over time.

It's easy to use. Very reasonable. Came exactly on the day promised. All good. The only thing I can complain about is that there were no instructions for assembly. I like instructions. I was able to easily figure it out though.

What I like: how easy it was to put together. What it is made of. It is strong. It is easy to use in theory. What I do not like: my soil was very hard and needed to be aerated. This tool was next to impossible to get it in the ground without jumping my 200lbs on it and putting a lot of effort in for every press in. The size of it is designed for one foot to fit in and press down. Nowhere in my yard was I able to do that. It took me several hours to do a strip just a few feet wide. I don't think it was very practical for my hard compact soil. Although, the grass is growing fine as you can see in the pictures. I did this on Saturday, today is Tuesday and the yard is still smushed down from where I used it from how I had to jump on it to get it to go in. So perhaps if you have somewhat loose soil this will work well but if you have hard soil that needs to be aerated, like mine does, then this is going to be hard tool to use for anyone - yet that is what it is intended for so overall, I don't think it's the right tool for the job.
