My favorite function is the auto on at dusk. Then I set it for 6 or 8 hours and it goes off automatically and goes back on automatically at dusk the next day. Perfect!

We have a switch in the house that controls the outlet we use for our outdoor Christmas lights, but we were going to be away from home several different days this past Christmas season and wanted the lights to be on. This was the perfect solution. Works great! I will also use it with the Halloween lights next year.

I got this timer gizmo for my Christmas lights. Just put your one long string of lights on your tree; plug it into this timer; plug the timer into the wall or into the extension cord from the wall. Then on the timer you select how long after dark you want it to light up --- like I just turned the pointer to "Dusk to Dawn". That's it. That's what it says. Your lights will come on at night and turn off in the morning. You couldn't do a better job yourself. This is so much better than the old style with the little green and red pins, for example. I'll bet this lasts so long it will outlast me.
