Cheaply made. All broke right away

I got some duds. Each whistle has a plastic core that tunes it. Some of the cores needed adjustment. A few were over-inserted past the angle lip and into the resonant chamber. Perhaps one could make a hook with a paper clip and retrieve them. I used a small flat screwdriver to adjust most of the rest of the whistles. First hold the whistle looking from its rear down the angled slit to the plastic core. Insert the screwdriver and twist the core to parallel the lip. Second, hold the whistle sideways and use the screwdriver to push the core in so it comes even with the perpendicular cut or the base of the slit. I found some whistles worked better with the core pushed up to 3/32 past that point. You want the jet of air to be split by the angled edge of the lip with some air some exiting the whistle directly and some going into the resonant chamber. Adjust the core's depth for the most volume.

I got these for my grandsons and us to carry on keychain in a pocket while hunting or hiking because we have been seeing a lot of coyotes on our game trail cameras and when walking our dogs or out in the woods if we’d ever encounter one, hopefully this super loud whistle would scare them off. Also would be great to have if somewhere without cell phone service like in the woods in case of an accident and needed to alert someone to your location. We have 75 acres and not much cell service in our area so hopefully no one will ever need to use these in an emergency but I think they will be good to keep with us just in case. Would be great while out shopping in case of a mugger to alert someone that you needed help and hopefully scare away a would be attacker. I also thought these were a great value price for so many! They are lightweight and small to carry in a pocket but super loud. Very happy with this purchase and the fast shipping.

I bought some of these a few years ago so the center has worn out a bit. But these are very loud and can get the attention of dogs and students.

At first I thought.."Dang it" these things don't work. Then my husband tried one and WOW - the whistle noise is loud and very high pitched. It's important to let you know - YOU MUST BLOW SHORT HARD BREATHS, you can't just causally blow like you would a regular whistle with a ball inside of it. We are in our kayaks or canoes all summer and I have been lax by not buying whistles for each life jacket we have - not anymore. We are prepared. It's a small investment that could save your life. These whistles are a very nice quality. These are very sturdy, not cheap. I purchased these to help with our dog training around the house. We needed something to make a quick, loud sound and these are perfect. I put one in several places around the house so they would be easy to find when we needed them. Some times we just walk around the house wearing them. The lanyards are also made of a nice quality. The really work well to distract our dogs from fighting, digging, or counter surfing!! I also gave one to my daughter to keep with her while away at college. It's something very easy for her to keep on her backpack or wear while walking around campus late in the day. The colors are great too!!

Bought them for our emergency kit and to have one on my key chain. It's very small and light.I tested them all out just to make sure sound came out of them. I just blew on every one of them enough to get a good high sound and all of them worked.I wasn't looking for ones with a lanyard so it was a bonus. The lanyards are not very sturdy but they work. (I would not hang a bunch of keys on them. I would hang the whistle and a key or two only). The price is right for what I got.If I need more I would purchase these again.
