I tried another 0.5 mm lead and could not get it to work. I had to use more expensive lead of the same brand as the pen. It is still worth it - nice pencil and the leads don't break easily.

Best mechanical pencil EVER! I do stats for sports and usually take 6 pencils with me and have become use to needing to change pencils due to dullness, and the amount of lead I just break was just insane. I ran a full bball season and never had lead break once! I am love with these and have started replacing all my pencils with these!

The order came way earlier than it was supposed to which was a nice surprise and the amount of leads in the package was generous. I am very impressed and this was money extremely well spent. Would recommend to anyone!

As soon as I received this, I tested it out to see if I could break the lead but it works superbly. The way it works is actually really cool. Comfortable to write with as well

I must have if you have the original zebra pencil, it has saved my ass lots of times, in school, exams etc....I must have!!!
