This was one of the few slot cutting sets I found with the cutter thickness I needed. The price was reasonable and the four cutters come in a nice finger-jointed wooden box. Pulling them out of the plastic base inside the box was like pulling teeth, however; they were really stuck in tight. The cutter worked nicely on the large basswood blanks I needed to slot. It takes a firm grip and careful planning to avoid having the cutter head grab the work and mess up the intended cut.

I’ve used bits that were $50-$100 ea. In the past but my needs were modest on this project so I ordered this four bit set for under $30. I don’t expect the durability to be as great, but the bits cut extremely cleanly and very fast (in oak) and after routing over 6 yards of cuts they were cutting as well as they did at the start. In a production shop, other bits might be preferred (plus a 1/2” shank) but for a hobbyist these were much better than expected.

IF your just a DYI woodworker these are great. Came quick, cool little box, and they cut very well.

The 1/2" bit will cut to the center of a 1 1/2" board, but I have to extend the shank out farther than I feel is good.

Despite that I've never used a router before nor have I ever been taught to use one, I was happy with this kit. I used it to cut a mortise and tenon joint on a pine closet door and they turned out fine. The only I issues I had were from user error and inexperience, though the manufacturer should include a speed for the bits. My suggestion for beginners like me is to place a scrap board at the end of your cut so that you don't shred the edge. I don't think that's an issue with the blade as much as routing in general. I sure do wish I'd taken more shop classes!
