Here’s how to use G&J's Finest Espresso Ball:

Prepare the Ball: Wash your new G&J's Finest Espresso Ball with soap and warm water to ensure cleanliness.

Chill the Ball: Place the ball in the freezer for at least 2 hours until it reaches a thoroughly chilled state.

Brew with the Ball: When you're ready to brew your coffee or espresso, take the chilled ball out of the freezer and position it atop your coffee cup.

Clean and Re-Chill: After use, rinse the ball under running water to clean it. Then, return it to the freezer so it’s ready for your next brewing session.

Savor Your Coffee: With the G&J's Finest Espresso Ball, your coffee or espresso is primed for enjoyment.

**Important note: to prevent excessive cooling, remove midway during the brewing process, if necessary.

  • It's a stainless steel ball designed to improve the flavor profile of hot espresso, making it smoother and less bitter.

  • Pour hot espresso over the chilled ball. The direct contact rapidly cools the coffee and locks together compounds that are normally broken down during oxidation, preserving the flavor and reducing bitterness.

  • It removes bitterness and enhances smoothness by preventing oxidation and over-extraction, resulting in a remarkably improved taste.

  • Chill the ball in the freezer, place it in a cup, and pour hot espresso over it. The coffee will quickly cool and maintain its full flavor.

  • Our design uses a stainless steel ball filled with a water and alcohol mixture. This enhances thermal conductivity, providing faster and more efficient cooling compared to a solid ball, ensuring optimal flavor preservation and reduced bitterness.

I tried this ball to chill cocktails and open the flavor as described - it doesn't do much of either. Hot drinks only reduce the temperature by 30 degrees as measured with a thermometer. It also doesn't positively affect flavor from what I've experienced.

I am a coffee drinker and one of those rare people that love the taste and flavors of black coffee without all the sugars and creams. So I am always looking for a way to make my coffee flavors better. I saw this technique on TikTok called extracting with a chiller ball and I immediately wanted to try it. It was pretty big at first look, but it was perfect for my favorite coffee mugs. I would recommend it.

Edit: I reached out to the seller and they happily provided a replacement for no charge and got it to me swiftly.I had this for 1.5 months, 5 or 6 days a week of use. Grabbed it from the freezer this morning and the welding came apart.

It works better than I expected it to. I’ve noticed a taste difference in my lighter roasts, not so much the darker roasts. The sphere stays cold for a long time, I usually pull a double shot twice in the morning with 15-20 min between. The sphere is just as cold on the second pull, provided I put it back in the freezer in between pulling shots. The welds were broken when I opened the package, likely broke in transit. The “tray” that holds the sphere over the cup is almost perfectly flat. This means that the espresso can run along it, and I’ve had some spill out the side of the cup as a result. Not a pro or con, but the sphere is quite large. Double check your measurements. The broken welds haven’t been a problem for me, as I have used a more angled holder from a different but similar product which limits spillage.

I use a moka pot rather than real espresso, but am something of a coffee nerd and wanted to try this ice ball. For my first drink, I just made my latte normally to see if I noticed a flavor difference. After adding all that milk and ice, I did not.The cold ball does not cool the coffee down entirely. It was still able to easily melt my dollop of honey waiting on the bottom of the cup.But I wanted to do a better test, so made a second pot to taste just the coffee. I poured half over the cold ball and half normally. The coffee that went over the ball was a bit cooler, but certainly not cold. I was impressed by the difference in flavor, though. As advertised, there was less bitterness and a much more pronounced dark chocolate flavor in the coffee. So even though it didn't cool the coffee as much as I expected, it did create the desired effect. For this reasonable price, I think espresso aficionados should give this a try. If you typically make a milky latte with syrups or other things added, this may not produce a noticeable effect in your drink. But if you drink a more espresso-forward drink, this is an interesting tool to have at your disposal. One additional note: whatever the cooling liquid is inside the metal, it stays cold throughout the whole process of using and washing it. It can be used a few times in succession, even rinsed in hot water in between, and will still be cold.

If you’re serious about your coffee experience, the Pour Over Coffee/Espresso Cooling Tool is worth considering. I saw it demonstrated on YouTube and appreciated the comments about how the tool impacts the flavor of the espresso. My experience is that it slightly cools the brew as it flows over the frozen ball and delivers a smoother tasting drink.

I know only a select few of us still make our own ice since ice machines have been made, but I unfortunately have to and I am terrible at remembering to start ice. I also like my coffee cold, so I get very upset when I do not have ice. I saw this little contraption and figured it might be a good alternative to cooling down my coffee. The tool is awkwardly big, but I guess the more surface area, the more my coffee gets cooled. I don't see this working if you make espresso in a shot glass. I would recommend to the company to make different sizes. Anyway, I chilled it like the directions said, set up my cup with the tool on it, and started my machine. The coffee was definitely colder once it was done, but not a whole bunch. I actually had to pour it back over the tool in another cup to get my desired temperature, but it worked! I will definitely be using this if I happen to forget to make ice again, but I would not use it to replace ice entirely.

This works and makes better coffee, but the ball is half filled with some unknown liquid. I am hesitant to use not knowing this might leach that liquid in coffee; I noticed this after making few brews, and crossed return window. Looking for something solid, without filling
